    Cord Cutters

Does anyone run into cord cutters? I came across a nice pile of junk from someone moving out and there were a couple of printers, a cordless phone, and then there were like 4-5 laptop cord boxes, charger wall adaptors, or whatever they are called. All with the cords cut off. Why wouldn't people take the wall adapter part? There are copper transformers in them and I would think they would at least add weight to the cords at the scrap yard. Any have thoughts? Just a lazy or uninformed scrapper?

I pick up at least one computer a month with the power cord cut but the insides left intact???? Uninformed. I do know one guy who dose not want to be bothered with the work has enough to deal with already. He says scrapping power cords is $500 an hour work. interpreted it takes literally a second or two, still pays well, no real work involved, much less storage needed, and they are everywhere.
There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man

a cordless phone had it's cord cut off? you must be seeing things
yeah cord cutters are a bit like gypsy's, you never see or hear them, they must travel on donkey's wearing slippers, late at night.
the ac adapters would go as transformers/motors, might be an indication that scrap yards in your town don't take plugs with cords?

The base unit (charger) of the cordless still has a cord that plugs into the wall,,,

I'D like to know how he strips that so quickly, I have 100 pounds of cords and lots of powercords that I left shielded for number 2 insulated, just don't have the time to strip unless I find a real good in expensive stripper maby that one on ebay for 65 bucks. but heres the kicker.. 2 yards near me don't buy transformers as motors or flyback's as copper motors, they just take as tin.. now I have to take my items to another yard 40 min away and see what they say but im thinking that here in south Louisiana they just don't know any better than the regular ferrus and non ferrus metals. sad..

You might have to open a couple of each up so they can see them,

I just finished up a city wide curbside cleanup day and was following in the wake of a cord cutter for some of the time. Couldn't help but shake my head as I am grabbing cordless steel box fans, cordless vcr's, cordless paper shredders....

I would do what mechanic said open up a few to show your yard. He has a homemade stripper that eats cord faster then he can feed it. Gotta love Yankee ingenuity this guy is a real life red green and has a homemade everything lol. I will try and remember to get a pic next time I visit

Could be someone without a vehicle? I know if I didn't have wheels and were scrapping I wouldn't want to carry heavy stuff unless it was worth it.

It is called ROI...they want maximum return on investment (time in this case)...they take cords because it takes 2 sec to cut it and throw it in the bin. Transport and storage is also relatively small for the $$$ it brings. I bet they dont strip wire at all...if they have a smaller vehicle, they can still take $200-300 worth easily.

I am sure plenty do not know any better...but they are just grabbing the low hanging fruit they can basically just stack in the corner and run to the yard....no work involved

Cords are great value by them selves . Yet in 4 years have not seen a cord cutter in action or even had any one admit to being one.

I feel they are a part of the hidden society & work for the free masons & have connections to the CIA . I am sure they know about hanger 18

Oh yes they are all knowing . Don't ask questions about them they too good with clippers, I heard a rumor they only use clippers made in USA.

I've ran into quite a few cord cutters, most of the time it's other scrappers, sometimes it's the people that set it out.

I keep a stash of various cords just in case I run across anything questionable that looks like it could bring a lot more than scrap.

Or the tv tube busters who just want the copper yoke. They break the tv on peoples lawn and leave broken glass behind. Those people give scrappers a bad name.
