Cord Cutters

Does anyone run into cord cutters? I came across a nice pile of junk from someone moving out and there were a couple of printers, a cordless phone, and then there were like 4-5 laptop cord boxes, charger wall adaptors, or whatever they are called. All with the cords cut off. Why wouldn't people take the wall adapter part? There are copper transformers in them and I would think they would at least add weight to the cords at the scrap yard. Any have thoughts? Just a lazy or uninformed scrapper?

yeah cord cutters are a bit like gypsy's, you never see or hear them, they must travel on donkey's wearing slippers, late at night.
the ac adapters would go as transformers/motors, might be an indication that scrap yards in your town don't take plugs with cords?

I'D like to know how he strips that so quickly, I have 100 pounds of cords and lots of powercords that I left shielded for number 2 insulated, just don't have the time to strip unless I find a real good in expensive stripper maby that one on ebay for 65 bucks. but heres the kicker.. 2 yards near me don't buy transformers as motors or flyback's as copper motors, they just take as tin.. now I have to take my items to another yard 40 min away and see what they say but im thinking that here in south Louisiana they just don't know any better than the regular ferrus and non ferrus metals. sad..

I just finished up a city wide curbside cleanup day and was following in the wake of a cord cutter for some of the time. Couldn't help but shake my head as I am grabbing cordless steel box fans, cordless vcr's, cordless paper shredders....

Could be someone without a vehicle? I know if I didn't have wheels and were scrapping I wouldn't want to carry heavy stuff unless it was worth it.

That's true. I scrap out of a Hyundai and I take everything I can fit in the trunk.

It is called ROI...they want maximum return on investment (time in this case)...they take cords because it takes 2 sec to cut it and throw it in the bin. Transport and storage is also relatively small for the $$$ it brings. I bet they dont strip wire at all...if they have a smaller vehicle, they can still take $200-300 worth easily.

I am sure plenty do not know any better...but they are just grabbing the low hanging fruit they can basically just stack in the corner and run to the yard....no work involved

I've ran into quite a few cord cutters, most of the time it's other scrappers, sometimes it's the people that set it out.

I keep a stash of various cords just in case I run across anything questionable that looks like it could bring a lot more than scrap.

Or the tv tube busters who just want the copper yoke. They break the tv on peoples lawn and leave broken glass behind. Those people give scrappers a bad name.
