    Jerks!!

I cannot believe how rude and ignorant people can be... I went around recently emailing computer repair ads on kijiji to see about buying scrap. No real good leads, but had one guy that actually emailed me and said "I do the same thing sooo why would i give you my stuff?!" really...? What a waste of an email. Not once did it say he recycled stuff. Some people.

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

He should have just not replied instead of saying something like that. Or, explain his response a little less rudely.

    Thats what i was thinking.

Im gonna keep at it and may make a price list. But i really only want to pay for whole computers for now. Cant even manage that lol nobody wants to get rid or sell anything. Even posted a paid ad to make mine first up for a week. Waste of 12 bucks. Not one call or email. May give it one more shot though.

Once i get better with e waste and e waste prices i may buy other stuff.

    Jerks!!

I have luck with the city garage sale site on Facebook, more so than cl. there you have a better way to establish relationships and it can develop into others being your scout. My last big score came via a referral of a relationship I made. I put time into the site answering others questions and letting others see I'm not a jerk. I even wipe some of the P4s I get and list them for cheap on there.

I get used to it as I get a rude answer at least once a month
    Example from today

I search Craigs every day for cars $700.00 and under

Saw an ad for a >> 2000 ford Contour se - $600 (fall river ma)
Car should weigh in at 2769 >> Scale is $175.00 a ton or .088 a pound or $244.00 scale for the car
I try to be fair with people and pay scale
I make my money on copper wire, aluminum Radiators and AC components, sometimes Aluminum rims and of course the Cat
Not getting rich BUT Not going hungry

So back to the rude guy
    I send this eMail >>

Most times >> I can be there within an hour of your call with the Ca$H in hand

    I Buy cars.
The car to me is worth $250.00 Ca$H,
as long as it still has it's catalytic Convertor and a Battery
So if it sits around and you get tired of looking at it,
OR the wife or Landlord gets tired of looking at it

Please give me a call and I will come right over.
I pay Ca$H and I don't care what is wrong with the car.
So I do not argue about how bad it looks or how much work it needs, I just pay the Ca$h and take it away.

Well, you run into jerks everywhere. That is all there is to it. We have to move on and not let it get to us. Easier said than done. I know on occasion I can end up letting a jerk ruin my day. Or at least a couple hours of my day. The worst part of it, is when you end up passing it on. A simple smile and greeting will get passed around and continue to brighten people's day. The same goes for rudeness but I the opposite manner of course.

With that said, when I send messages to people expressing my interest in their old computers if they don't sell, I will send a message something along the following.

Hi, I recycle computers and computer related parts. That is I recycle and not refurbish for resale. I saw your add and would like to offer my services in case they are needed. I am not trying to lowball you and hope you can sell your items, but if they do not sell, I can offer a little something for recycling them rather than throwing them in the trash. Again, I hope you can sell these and that is even better than recycling, but if they don't move, please get ahold of me so I can make you an offer.

Then I always sign with my name and phone number.

I still get the swearing and yelling responses, but those are very few. I get many non responses. I also get responses that are pleasant such as "Thanks for the offer. I will get in touch with you if they do not sell." Once in a while I actually get a pick up from it.

Above all with this discussion, try your best to not take it personal and move on as hard as it can be.

Not to disagree here, but I've scrapped several cars, and buy and flip them all the time. The reason you get the bad response to the offer is because
You aren't the only one sending this email offering scrap value. I've sold several cars under $1k and 9 of 10 emails I get are scrap priced offers.
Once again not disagreeing with the thread, or your post.
I'm not much of a phone person, and deal mainly through email. People get very angry with me over this, calling me a spammer, and the like. If they are interested in what I'm selling, they can email me, and I'll promptly email back, just the way I work.

    Here's his quote;
and the batterry sometimes is new 75$
I think 75 to 100 is about normal anymore to go buy a new battery

I thought the same, he was referring to the cost of a new battery. I know down here they start around that price, an just go right on up.

An if did mean he was getting $75 as a core price...I agree with Idaho, dude is hitting up the unicorn store. You know..the same one that spits out troy oz gold bars when you pop a quarter in the machine.
