Project Recap
Last weekend my Scouts and I tore down a total of 230 Keyboards, consumed 4 of my Dear Wife's Cookie Sheet Pizzas and 3 Gallons of Tea in just a little over 4 hours.
This was a dual purpose mission. Raise a couple of bucks for our upcoming camping trip & introduce them to what Recycle really means.
Our meeting this week was a trip to my yard.
We ended up with:
30# of cords @ .70# 21.00
123.5# of screws and steel plates @ .09# 11 .31
8# of Silver Mylar @3.00# 24.00
109# of plastic @.03 3.27
For a total of $59.58
It surprised me a little that on the way back from the yard the were busy figuring return per hour and gas used. The priceless moment was when a little voice piped in and said. "I think Mrs. S. spent that much on Pizza stuff." " We ate like Hogs." That ended the teaching moment
and they grunted , oinked & squealed for the last couple of miles back to the Pack Shack. I of course did not participate in such foolishness. Well not much anyway.
Poor Mrs S. kinda shot us in the foot when she shipped the Mylar $14.85 eeeek. Could have sent it in a Regional Flat Rate box for 7.00 and change, lesson learned.
$59.58
-$14.85 USPS
-0- for the keyboards
-0- for the gas since I was going to the storage and yard anyway for other reasons.
-0- for the eats they were Mrs. S's gift to the project.
left us , we thought, a net of $44.73. And then we received the payment from ParrotHead for the Mylars along with an extra $10.00 for the Boys Camping fund ! WOW!!
I shared that neat info with the first young man in our text tree early this morning and received the following text from one of the other Dad's helping to plan the trip a little while ago.
" what is a parrot brain and why is it King of the S'mores" ??
All in all a great group activity made all the better by Greg ParrotBrain's thoughtful generosity. Thank you Sir.
Phase two:
Mrs. S will take us all off to the Save-a-Lot just before the trip with our menu and shopping list to see just how far we can make our $54.73 stretch. I am told we have a $10.00 budget for S'mores fixin's![]()

I think I need a new sig line, LOL. "Parrot Brain, King of the S'mores!"
Wow! I was setting here relaying this little story to the wife before she heads of to work. We enjoyed it very much. Best $10 I ever spent!
