What is the price difference though between gross ton and net ton? I get paid on all my scrap in ferrous by NET ton vs Gross Ton. I remember a thread recently about being sure you were being paid in NET not Gross.. but if I bring in a 2 ton vehicle what is the NET vs Gross difference?
KZ answered this in the thread I was thinking of:
Net Ton=2000 pounds
Gross Ton=2240 pounds
Makes a big difference when figuring cents per pound.
So at $290 Gross Ton - .129 (Say .13/lb)
$240/ton - .12/lb
Still better than here.. Don't like the whole Gross vs Net game though- seems shady a bit on the part of the yard. BUT if that area tends to always pay GROSS.. then I guess you guys would be used to it.
