    Thanks, again its my dream truck. Never produced configuration, the crew cab was produced through 1985 in 2 or 4 wheel drive short bed, and long beds only as 2wd configuration. The Cummins didn't come along in a Dodge until late 1988. And the axles with 3.07 gears only used in 89-91 automatics without overdrive, whereas I have overdrive auto. Gives great fuel milage empty. Loaded I don't use overdrive but it puts me at about the same or slightly lower RPM as having overdrive on with 3.54 gears. If I towed heavy more often I would have went with 3.54's but a lot of my driving is empty and this setup cuts back on fuel usage a little and it has an incredible top end and less drone noise at highway speeds

    Yeah mine gets 19mpg.I am goingto do some stuff to it here soon and should get 28+ MPG after i am done.

    How do you plan to do that? I've heard of people getting a 2wd 2500 into the 30's but it was stripped down and had a lot of drivetrain and aerodynamic modifications... pretty sweet though. If I were to shoot for anything above low 20's I think i'd start out with a lighter vehicle and use a 4BT Got a 98 Durango getting 9 mpg w/5.2 would love to put a 4Bt in it....

    Well with diesel's there is stuff you do that will improve there mileage alot.Like big down pipe and exhaust.Turn it up,bigger injectors,fuel plate.That stuff will make you get great fuel mileage.

    I'm aware of this.... I do a little bit of local performance tuning on 12V Cummins for some people here, all in the name of more power, but never noticed much better fuel milage from anything done, certainly not 10 more mpg. I was more curious what type of injectors, what turbo, etc. that you think would produce 28 mpg. And what other mods you were going to do to the truck for the drivetrain or aerodynamics etc.

    My truck gets 19 per.I buddy had the exact same truck with.4 inch down pipe and 5 inch exhaust.I think red or blue injectors,a fuel plate,and it was turned up and it got 28 mpg anywhere city or highway.

    Wow. I'd kill for 18 mpg, let alone 28. 28 would be nuts. My d250, 318, 727 gets 12. I guess thats the EPA guesstimate too, so I can't complain. Bigblue12v, your truck is also my dream truck exactly.

    As for the farm job in the thread, that is exactly my favorite kind of job. Houses are always the same . . . fridge, fridge, stove, railing, dryer, blah. I've done a few farms and found some pretty cool stuff. Head from a ford 300-6, manure spreader, cool old bench, plow, jerry can, some huge gears/chains/misc assemblies from god knows what, old chainsaws . . . awesome stuff. So much history in these places. I try to save the stuff that is worthwhile, but lots of it gets so rusted that all its good for is scrap. My favorite was a 2,200 pound corn planter. Took two days with a sledge, breaker bar, and chisel until it was in nice enough bite sized pieces to fit in my truck. I guess the thing about bypassing the amp meter would explain why mine hasn't moved since I've owned the truck. That sucks, but I guess thats what we get for owning a dirty dodge! Mine just got new back brake lines and hoses, oh, and my right rear wheel cylinder was a sieve. You certainly aren't alone!
