$10,000 treamill

I picked up a treadmill this morning and was expecting a normal treadmill that you would get from say Sears or Walmart. Not the case. It turns out to be a commercial treadmill from a gym. The guy told me they sell for $10,000! So I was looking into it and found out he was right! They go from between $2,500 up to $10,000 depending on how used they are. Now I really don't wanna just scrap this out but I'm not seeing any of the motors selling on ebay. I found a couple similar ones but not the one I have and I couldn't find any that were bid on. I was just wondering if any out there has ever had any luck selling a treadmill motor? The only thing I can think to do with this thing is sell the motor on ebay and scrap out the rest. Any suggestions. The guy I got it from said he brought it home and tried hooking it up but couldn't get the thing to turn on, so I don't know if it works or not yet but I'll be testing that tomorrow. Even if it does work though were would I sell it? I doubt craigslist would be of any use and there are plenty of them on Ebay, plus I have no idea how I would even ship something like that. Any advice would be appreciated before I end up putting a $10,000 in the shred pile. It's a Cybex 750t Legacy

Have an ebay account? Put it on ebay with local pickup for a couple hundred if someone really wants it, they might just handle the freight pickup for you.

That's right. I actually forgot about the local pick-up and buyer arranges shipping options. And I do have an ebay account but haven't sold anything on it yet. Thanks guys. The motor from this thing is just taunting me to break it open right now. Anyone else ever get that? you know something is worth way more than scrap but for some reason or another you just want to break it apart and scrap it anyway.

I used to when I started scrapping. I would get something new and want to take it apart. Now, when I think back on what I had scrapped "for learning purposes" it makes me sick. I try to sell most things first, and I can always go back and tear into it if it looks at me the wrong way

check the model number and "parts" on ebay...you would be surprised at what people pay for things like the screen...even the plastic pieces if they get broken...many times I get something with a bit of age that is worth more in PARTS than whole...

I actually did find a place near by that buys and refurbishes fitness equipment. I'm waiting to hear back from them so we'll see how that goes. I looked more into some of the parts last night and they are expensive! I'm going to go test the thing out today and see what works and what doesn't but I'll be happy as long as the motor works, the motor alone is selling for just under $1,000 new so I figure I can get at least $200-$300 out of just the motor if it works. Still exploring other options as well, thanks guys.

Or maybe contact the gyms in the area and see if they'll let you put a flyer up. You'll have some 'health nuts' beating down your door.

Sound like you have lots of ways of trying to dump it for more than scrap. But it has to be running, so I hope you can get it going! If not, is there a market for the parts? Maybe even sell the motor on eBay...it seems to me that there are lots of guys doing CNC stuff who are looking for inexpensive DC motors.
