Nice free CL e-loot haul plus yard sale leftovers!

We made a GREAT contact last weekend through a post in Craigslist's "Free" section! A guy was giving away a small collection of random electronics, nothing too exciting some old pagers, camcorder, a scanner but we went and got it. We met the guy in the parking lot of his job which turned out to be one of the many local tech businesses. As we do with basically everyone, we told him to call us if he ever had anything else to get rid of. And the very next day he called us up to give us two big boxes of stuff!

    Highlights:

We got 15 motherboards, 10 of them have nice heatsinks on them
    9 fans with heatsinks
    TONS of cords and cables
Some neat components (wireless mouse, keyboard, circuit checkers)
    Nice Hayes SmartModem 2400
*random* a 4 ton hydraulic jack??
*random* brand new at home CPR training program. It has a dummy and everything!

So then yesterday I checked out some free yard sale leftovers and got this stuff:

    4 stock Chrysler speakers
The body of a 1/10 scale RC monster truck with lots of cool parts including 2 big electric motors!
    cordless phone handset
probably 8-10 remote controls, many of them still had batteries inside
2 old car radios, one is beat up and rusty but it's heavy so will pad my shred pile, the other appears useable
    2 ECM car computers

All in all some pretty neat stuff

    Nice score!

Might want to look into more then scrap value on the cpr dummy. I recall hearing those things are pricey, an if it's like new you might find some takers.

Good luck an let us know if you do manage to sell it for more then scrap!

I'm already on it! I head our Better Than Scrap division and did a lot of yard sale-eBay-ing before we started scrapping. We (my boyfriend and I) have a rule for handling incoming items:
"Never unpackage, discard, dismantle, or intentionally damage any item unless it has been verified to have no value other than scrap."

You only have to take apart a working 486 computer once (just to see what was in there) to keep this rule in mind!

I can't post pics yet but the CPR training program is just a small at home version with a very creepy rubber dummy that is just the head to mid chest area. But it is a complete package, never used, so I'm sure someone will want it.

I was watching some of the guys up the streets racing some rc cars the other day...man have those things come miles since I was a kid!

Nice haul again, good look on the resales!

I don't have enough posts to add pics yet but it is a Kyosho Double Dare from the late 80s. Sadly parts had already been taken off of it so I'm parting it out. Most of the stuff should work for similar 1/10 scale RC models of the day. I have both motors, speed control, all four wheels, and chassis. I think all that's missing is the battery pack, engine, and body but I'm not entirely sure.

    Well, that made me chuckle.

By the way, if that is an old camcorder, tear it down fully. Found a nice gold chip in a recent one, hidden until the last few parts were dismantled.

Maybe this will show - success!
Unfortunately, I did not record the type of camcorder, but it was a VHS recorder.

I've got an old camcorder, not sure VHS or what, waiting on the scrap urge, or maybe the Ebay search

Anna, one of my first conversations about Ebay a guy was telling me about his buddy's deal there, and it was about one of those little racers. He went and bought one brand new for about $200, took it totally apart, then sold the pieces on Ebay for a total of $400 ; )
