Tried to get local board pricing today...

...and got transfered 3 times, gave my phone number and was told I would get a calk back before 5. Surprise surprise, no call. They didnt even know if they took boards in different catigories.. RAM, Mobo, etc. All she knew was that they take mixed boards at .10 per pound and whole puters at .40 per.

Ps that was at the largest yard in our city. Owned by Triple M Metals.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

at those rates, I'd be glad they didn't call you back Jord. You'd probably make more just eating the cost of shipping.

Smart plan. You got the ability to corner the market if you can work out your costs for buying up there in the great north!

    Good luck!

Hey Jord, if they are paying that low for mixed boards, see if they will let you check out their board pile. You might be able to buy all of theirs at a profit for them, sort everything and come out great.

Pnut - I agree. My yard takes B-Pop, or low grade boards for .20 cents and I am not sure what their high grade board price is since mine don't make it there. I have sent in a few boards with my low grade ones that were from computers, but I had used a heat gun and removed everything from the board. Threw all the parts in coffee can and sorted them out later. Got cans for all my IC Chips, Processors, Gold pins...

Very doubtful that they'd let me buy any from em. This yard is a massive corporately owned place. Im gonna go to the small local family owned yard one day soon and see what they do with e waste. They just buy in bulk for .05 per pound.

But i know for a fact they buy e waste catagorized cause iv seen boxes of ram, boxes of mobos, etc. Just cant figure out prices. The scale person had no idea what she or I was talking about.

Ok, yeah the big corporate ones are tough to deal with. I talked to one that told me they don't sell anything to anyone ever. That family owned yard could be easier to work with. The best thing to do is get to know the people and let them get to know you. Then they are more likely to make a deal with you.

Until then, you should do well buying from the public if you post prices where they can find them. If it's tough for you to get pricing out of the yards, think of how hard it is for the casual seller who isn't determined enough to keep at it until they find out. Make it convenient and they will go to you.
