    Thanks for sharing your knowledge Pnutfarmer. I'm also concerned about the safety of taking the rig down. An acquaintance who disassembled 400 of them told me he keeps the pivot point intact and lifts the outer end with his telehandler, cuts the wheel assembly up as high as he can reach and keep working inward. Once done with all wheels, he can then push the pivot over and continue without it collapsing on him. I'm aware of the pressure on the stressrods as we see here.....

    Yes, there is a lot of tension on those rods. I haven't taken down a system that way, but I have had to rebuild them when they fall due to a storm or wayward employee on a tractor If you're close enough to a yard, see if you can tow a section at a time in to them and take the wheels off there. If not, your method of cutting off the wheel assemblies first, then pulling it over would be safer than trying to cut the tension rods while it's still together.
