check to see if any of them trucks run planetary axels. around here if you sell them in right market they go for $500-750 each to people building mud toys. the heavy axels dont break and are used to set up the high lifts.

the bed should be resaleable. i sold a 16 foot grain truck bed for 750 last fall off a 49 chevy 1 ton truck.

the dump bed equipment if repairable sells good too. look at fellow scrappers and farmers... also for the bed consider cutting the frame into a trailer. less regulation and just get a builders title. a 20 foot trailer should be worth at least 1000 - 2000 if built right. them axels are plenty heavy so would provide a very heavy duty trailer.

that old stuff sells because it was built to last and was easily repaired.

do your homework. you may sit on some of it a while but you listed potentially a few grand easy in parts and you will still have 90% of your scrap weight.

every one just thinks of. how fast can i get paid when a little extra time can make you 10 times more. i learned a long time ago to look to market or sell stuff creatively when it came to that stuff. it pays well if you got the pacience to do it. besides selling them as parts will make you far more than scraping them will.

    just my 2 cents.

Just for reference, I recently took a 60s model International single screw grain truck; complete with motor and tranny to scrap weighing 3.5 ton (less the skeleton floor in the pic).
The box and floor were wood and I removed that before hauling. Torched behind the cab and got everything hauled with two loads on my 16ft car trailer. Ripped the wood and the radiator off with my skidsteer and loaded with it also. I think vehicle price was around $125/ton at the time. They accepted the rubber tires/wheels attached.

And I like to piggyback cars too.

If you can get profit from a purchase as such
.... buy then drive to the yard your covered .

If you have room and ability to part out motors thats just more more icing .

    BUT

the cost of $75 ($150) to get trucks out , is a consideration if your talking about taking them to your property. Once you have them,
you will once more need the help of a TOW .
So if the parting out is not fruitful
    are you looking at another $150 ($300 ) ?

    $125. per net ton @ 2000 #

    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00
    2000 $125.00

    24000 $1,500.00
    pounds

You need 24,000 pounds to get $1500
For me the sure thing is the scrap yards ,you know there the guaranteed source of money
if you make a purchase knowing your too close to scrap yard pay out or your relying on some one buying a motor from you
    to get your profit ,
I feel the risk is real that all your doing is buying and selling for others to gain off you .
going form $150 to $300 to get to yard , based on spring time is also some real money there .
If by any chance your talking gross ton you then need 26880 pounds

    -----------
The good thing about scrapping is that it's all based on weight
    You can't fluff the reality
often we want the killer purchase but the weight has to be there. Using a Spread sheet will often be your best way to figure Google docs has them for free
once you learn them you know the good the bad and the one to run from.

I like to always know I can bail out of hopeful selling of items & know the scrap yard has my back

Some parts can be worth quite a bit I saw 4 people fighting over a rock truck rear end at a Ritchie Brothers auction

well the scrap guy that lives 10 miles away from trucks is paying 135 now and if i have my buddy haul them back up by his place they aer paying 180 but i know that is gonan drop by spring and i figure if i put a lil money aside out of each haul i make then it be a gamble i can deal with a lil bit more. if nothing else i buy them all 3 for a grand spend 200 hauling them out and sell for a grand i only lose the 200 and have a grand to start the spring off with. if its lil bit here and there to buy them then its not such a big loss

Not sure if it's been mentioned but GVWR is vehicle plus rated load, NOT actual vehicle weight. Plenty of "discussions" with people that think a 26K truck weighs that much when, in reality, it might be closer to 12K.

So the plan would be get them - get certain parts off - then sell off the bulk of trucks for what might be at worst a small loss .
But you start spring off with some good stuff to sell .
If thats the plan that sounds fine as you still have some heavy items in your possession that if you can't sell to the public
you sell off the the yard as the final sale.

I once had a chance to take some items off an old truck they have thick copper battery wire terminals
