Now I wish I wouldn't have passed up that old delivery truck with lift gate on CL for $750.

    Another one of my favorite moods is my tekonsha brake controller. It's kinda pricey but I love the LCD display that will tell you in plain words if your brakes aren't working, bets the hell out of trying to figure out what the yellow light means, plus the display makes adjusting braking up or down a lot easier to fit the power to heavier or lighter loads.

    I actually bought mine to be a work truck, and it had what I needed when I got it, Ranger Ext. cab w/ 4.0L, 5 spd w/overdrive, 4x4 w/ hi-lo(love that 4x lo gear), 3/4T w/ heavy duty tow package. I made a set of side boards for it but used them maybe twice, usually any bigger loads I just take the trailer.
    I have certainly added a few scuffs and scratches, the worst one came from driving in the woods after dark with a huge load of firewood, next worse from a sloppy crane operator at the yard who was in a hurry and tried to grab a piece I'd untied from the truck and was going around the other side to throw it off when he missed, and it slid over the side

    id fine with not having a rear window guard except for the fact i occasionally have dumbass buddies help load

    uggh even worse is when they help unload.
    1. they always end up throwing aluminum, cords and other good stuff into the pile
    2. they always THROW it into the pile

    I got a piece of plywood i sometimes prop-up behind my window -id be cool if i got something i could see through
    i got some sweet side walls from pick n pull
    I scratched the top of my cab so much that i stopped caring and can now rest stuff on it
    I switched to commuter shocks about a month before i got into scrapping
    -and the guy who got me into scrapping shot those shocks out within a week > still in decent condition though.

    I wanna get a towhitch reciever installed and a 1/2ton trailer
    I also wanna install a tiny unobtrustive lock/stand to prop my bike(s) upright in the bed when not hauling

    9 ton winch, 2x4's to throw in stake pockets for looks so D.O.T. drives on by.

    as for mods on my truck i put 4ft stakes on the back and used futon frames to close it in. 4" stainless exhaust is about to go on, a monster open air intake "BHAF" big honkin air intake for the cummins guys. went to 265 tires instead of 245s, truck had a 4" lift when i got it makes for a rough time when loading new washers or dryers. but i just put a truck cap on the back to keep all my ice fishing stuff out of the weather. I'll just use my small trailer for scrapping until march. but for the big trailer i put a 5 ton winch on it with over head crane wire rope on it.

    I have a couple of trucks. Modifications:

    To my 99 Ranger, once I began the occasional CurbCo run I added a box the the truck, probably over built, mad of 2x8's. also added a removable gate to the back of it to deter inquiring eyes, both law enforcement and crooks.

    To my 89 F350 box truck, I put my logo on the side of it.

    I also have access to a box truck with a lift gate. It comes in handy a lot, but it also gets in the way a lot.
