Anyone making the morning after Christmas run??

Hope everyone is having a great Christmas! Well I got some new boots, and some new flannel (essential for scrapping this time of year in MN) and I'm ready to wake up at five tomorrow to get out before the garbage trucks! Around here, this is usually always a big day, the day after Christmas. I know that they don't add up to much but I always love finding a box filled with Christmas lights. Time to fire up the coffeepot, I've really been on vacation the last few days! Who else is getting out there tomorrow??

We have a Christmas Eve tradition: We all head out with coffee and cocoa and look at Christmas lights. I saw 2 TV's already out to the curb.. the day BEFORE Christmas. I assume tomorrow will be a stellar day for CurbCo scrappers!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

I know guys its a bad thing , just gott back from my run , saw 10-12 tvs clipped all the cords . For me its not cost effective to recycle tvs , i used to but then i realized it wasnt worth it . The only place accepts tvs is 15 miles away and they only accept five a day . SUre you make 2-3 dollars and your left with alot of leaded glass. In my situation ive decided its not cost effective. You pick them up, load them off the truck take the jacket off , get the copper and other goodies out , rescrew the jacket , LOAD it back on the truck , drive it to the recycling center ( make multiple trips) after that you working for free. Alot of heavy lifting , you got to handle them 3-6 times . This is my opinion .This is why i scrap METAL not TVS. Plus the garbage company doesnt take tvs but people still put them out

Plus jord theres no other scrappers to piss off in my town

Two to three bucks to get off tv's is great. My buyer charges me .08c a pound. I know he gets about .02 cents paid per pound per TL so he is pulling a .10 c margin. I charge .20c a lbs and make the same. Hey .10 cents a pound Margin for a product we can source easy and fast is great. Plus you have no capital into it.

Other words if you doin a trailer a week at .10 cents that's 4,400 profit (net) in your pocket plus all thr stuff they brought with them you made.

I don't process tv's. I'm leaving to do my Transferstations today.

They are getting slammed with them.

If your in central ma call me or up north Phoenix is a good company I've worked with. While back with cats not electrics. I gota talk to Sean soon.

    Aaron.

Ps clipping cords takes out the ability to easily reuse these TVs. Many third world countries and even here I keep the hd flat screen but tube models. They are a great back up for people.

I know they are trash, if you must leave enough cord to splice another incase somone wants to rewire one.

We all need to make every trip worth it though too. I hear you on your reasons.

    Aaron.

Cord cutters are not that bad! A lot better than Smash and Grabbers who leave a big mess! A TV placed out by me normally someone cuts the cord (quick and easy money), then hopefully someone else comes and takes the rest. But usually some one smashes them open leaving the boards and small wires with the broken mess (they take the copper only). If the broken mess stays out for awhile the boards and small stuff will be taken. If this happens in an alley the broken glass and plastic never gets removed. In front of someones house the homeowner gets stuck cleaning it up...
