Headlamp Instead of Flashlight or other lighting? What do you use for lighting outside

I was just wondering if anyone else uses these headlamps that you put on your head for working outside when it gets dark. I have been using them for more than a year because they are useful for many reasons: Since the light is on your head you have two hands available to work on your car, breaking down stuff, etc., it is portable, no setup required like with flood lighting, and its small and bright.

Here is a link to what I am talking about:
Search Results for*headlamp*at The Home Depot

This has been such a simple and useful tool especially this time of year when it gets dark early.

I first started using one mountain climbing, backpacking, and hunting. I was always loosing my flashlight. Now I use it to keep from loosing my head. If you are worried about loosing your cap, they make them to clip to the bill. Have not lost my head or cap since I started using them. Now if they would create a magnet with the same convenience, I would be in seventh heaven.

I love them, have two. One for backup.

Use them for crawling up in the attic, out in the shed at night, unloading stuff...

I was looking at hunting caps at wmart not long ago, one was $2.99, the other was like $12.99. A guy there beside me looking at caps too, I said wow, there's a big difference in those prices, he said well this one's got a light. Sure enough, had dual headlights built into the bill

The girl just got me one for xmas, and I love it! Patriot, your magnets are probably just stuck to your truck somewhere, and im not sure if walkin' around with a magnet strapped to the ol'dome is a great idea... Now, I shall exit this post in SirScrap fashion...

head lamps are great - I have a fairly bright one from L.L. Beans.. I just gotta stop turning it on in my pocket and killing the battery.

I use it for walking the dog, working at night, and working in the garage.

Miners use em all the time, it's the only way to go in the real dark. Ever seen absolute darkness? Ever seen absolute white? Working in Homestake Gold Mine in 76/77 (it was its hundredth year of operations then) I saw quite a few sights. One happened to be a moss covered stope, absolute white moss(never seen even a glimmer from the sun). When I turned off the light, it was absolute darkness. When I flipped the switch, it changed instantly to absolute white. Cool huh : D

Anyhow, the company issued the hardhats and lights, batteries etc. After each shift we'd return our badge to the board(everybody had a brass number that we'd remove from the board going in, and return to the board going out) and our battery to the charger(in it's particular place). If you left there without doing both, they'd have to come find you(sure better not mess up there, and let em find you at home or in a bar nope)

These lights were cool, and not that hard to wear, fit right on front of the hard hat, and had a switch that went from a beam to a wide angle to off. I know for sure they'd last at least a solid 12 hours

prospecting in Indiana? haha : ) What kind of light do you use? I told my story in one way to alert those interested in a great light, not to scrap any of those type. I'd guess there may be still some around

oh by prospecting I meant looking for scrap. Not mining anything out here hahaha. I just use cheap Walmart ones. I have a few that will clip on a hat, but I like to use the ones with an elastic band. Sorry for the confusion bud.

haha yeah, guess I had some serious prospecting on my mind ; ) It's been a long time since I've used(or even had) a headlamp.
The light I find most convenient these days is one that came with a cheap Ryobi battery power tool set. It's got a great beam, lasts a good while, stands up, and has a swivel lamp that will adjust anywhere from the floor to the ceiling(with similar angles outside)

I do believe a fella I work with has the light you are speaking of. pretty useful in the shop, but prefer my headlights in the dark.
