I'm not positive on the fine but the EPA says $10,000 for each incident. I have no idea if it went that far...in WI we have a habit of disallowing federal activities in our state. Add to that were one of 9 states without a deficit (which is constitutionally disallowed in all 50 states...go figure) and of those 9 states were the ONLY state to not receive federal funding for anything under state authority. Of course our interstate/US highway system is federal funded but that goes without saying. We don't even take federal subsidy for UI or WIC...

If I had to guess, he's in jail pending payment of a massive fine...at a rate of $56 per day. Add to that repayment of services rendered by Winnebago County Fire and Rescue, divers and so forth. If there is a felony there, time for that too...probably consecutively.

WI and the DNR take their **** hardcore up here. I'm an avid fisherman when I'm not drinking or working... wait I drink when I fish, so when I'm not working then! Anywho, Wisconsin is probably one of the first states when I was out here long term, that has so many area specific rules not just for fishing but most of the hunting regs to. My mind was pretty near blown when I had a Game Warden run-in. Almost every lake or group of lakes has their own bag limits, size limits, rules, etc. Tailormade to each lake and their fishing environment, spawn season, population strength. To add insult to injury, it's one of the few states that takes "collateral confiscation" to the max. Anything used to commit an offense (even fishing without a license) they can legally take: Your pole/gear, oh you're in a boat? Thanks, How'd your boat get here? Trailer? GREAT, THANKS! Oh how do you haul the trailer? Truck? Wow you're so generous in your donations! Granted they don't go that far, worst I've heard was from a guy who decided he had to duck hunt where he wasn't supposed to. They took his boat and trailer. He only got it back after he paid some hefty fines and the impound storage fees.

Why the fed seems to dislike WI so much, I'll never know! We have beer and cheese and meats galore! And we're all so friendly (we'll do a standard bell curve on that one)!

AGW, in regards to the interstate, I believe when the federal limit dropped to .08 they were pulling funding for that because WI was trying to keep their .12 ? I don't know the specifics, that was just some odd piece in a drunk conversation with my uncle one night.

We take our drinking seriously in Wisconsin. Most of us are professsional drinkers worthy of a German kegger.

God****it. Someone brought in a nice slab of smoked sturgeon not 10 minutes ago. 135lb fish, from where you ask? Yup, good ole Winnebago. I couldn't bring myself to make a joke about tasting like heavy metals.

Fish was still delicious. Tasted like fish, smoke, and lake water like the good lord intended. Now if only we could have cold ones at work.
