I caught a guy dumping CRT tubes in Lake Winnebago

I have no idea who he was, but I saw him unloading tubes from his truck. As it turns out he has sawed a hole in the ice and dumped them. I was on the ice road crossing to go eat dinner when I noticed what was pretty obviously crt tubes in the back of a truck of the guy in front of me. He turned off, I ate dinner. I was on my way back (it was dark by then) and I could see him unloading the tubes...easy assumption what was going on. Called in his plate along with a couple really grainy pictures of the act, guess they got him coming off the ice. I was across the street having a beer when I saw the blueberries hit him.

Couple guys say it's a federal crime, I don't know but wow.

    Great work!

Along with any fines, he will be charged with recovery and any costs to properly dispose of them. I hope he has been dumping there for some time and there are hundreds of them that need removed.

Oh, and they won't wait for the ice to clear. They are going to send divers down there as fast as they can. Big bucks.

It's people like this I just want to......I'll refrain from saying it. Glad you turned him in and he got caught. Hope the fines are very very very hefty.

Good job! I hope the creep has to sell his truck and go in debt to pay his fines. What a numbskull (being kind).

++++++++1 nice job of getting involved! They should make him go down and bring every one of them back up.

I hope the WI DNR takes over this case. That guy will lose everything he owns for the rest of his stinken life. Lets say 100K for every dead sturgeon found for the next 20 years.

Yanno, I normally don't fret tv tubes...but in a lake I regularly fish in, and eat out of...holy hell. Every year we lose a sled or two to the lake early or late in the season and the DNR basically says either you recover it or we will and charge you for it. I just want to be clear on another thing, I am not one to point out illegal activities so long as they are benign and don't really harm anyone at all...I just see it as a waste of my tax payer dollars to say anything. In this case, that isn't so...in fact had I not have seen it I think it may have been discovered later and who knows, worst case scenario a fishing ban until they tested water and fish all over the lake...and thats literally a million dollar a day problem. I was already wondering what the hell he has tubes in the back of his truck for...I thought of all kinds of things the only logic being for the weight. There's no place to drop them off on that side of the lake at all, and I cross the lake this time of the year to go scrapping.

A little part of me feels bad...but for all that if I had confronted the guy it could have gone from bad to worse, a guy has to know what he is risking by dumping heavy metals in the waterways...60 years later and were still getting over the mercury situation around here.

I think you did great! What else could you do? Go to the closes bar and buy a round of shots and beers , and tell everybody what was going on.
The truck and remainder of the CRTs would have been found. But the owner ????
Only the bottom feeders would know for sure.

Good job you handle exactly as you should have.
Got no sympathy for that idiot as there is no excuse to dump them like that as it just makes the rest of us look bad.
