Hey VoodooDaddy..... like Mechanic said, you can find the values of most things to tear down right here on the forum. Just use the search box and search for "breakdown" and you'll find a lot of interesting reading that should keep you busy for hours on slow days. A good thing to do is get a notebook and write down the findings in these breakdowns so you can go back and check on it when you are able to buy things. Do the same when you break something down yourself, and you'll soon know the values of each item and know which ones you should look for. You'll be amazed at how much more you'll have to break down when you are able to buy some scrap even on a very small budget. Lousypirate has a good approach to it, just take a stab at it, buy, breakdown, sell. Just make sure you log your results so you won't repeat a mistake.

I'm like AUminer and miked, I never run out of things I need to tear down. But if things ever get slow, or I can't work due to weather, I get on the phone and call around. Usually you can find a business somewhere that is looking to get rid of some junk.

I usually stick around the Mechanicsburg area.
hmm ,....don't think i've met you ,but have seen you .....i drive an old red dodge full size dent in the passenger side, pitbull as a copilot ...... people remember the dog more then me ,....think they usually like him better too,lol ......i run around mechanicsburg pretty regular ,.... most of the guy's who run that area are pretty decent ,honest at least ....usually i try to meet my competition if i can ,....ironically i'm a believer that if guys work together sometimes they can make more ,ie; ...usually when i see other guys scrapping at curbmart, i'll tell them what direction i just came from ,so they aren't doubling over where i've picked clean ,...some of the guys think i'm crazy probly ,but some return the favor ,.....i've actually had other guys help me load heavy stuff and vise versa ,share tips and trade stuff ,....so if you ever see me around ,don't hesitate to stop n say hey

don't have an aai sticker ,have a "support the troops" sticker where an aai sticker might be,.......i think i'm like the only regular at aai that doesn't heve one ,...my trucks pretty plain looking ,unless th scrap piles up over the bed ,you'd never know it's a scrappers truck

When I get slow with nothing to do (which is not offen) I use that time to do some addvertising or networking. Mayby use this time to advertise and by spring you'll be so busy you can't keep up. Just my .02

I'm a part timer too. My problem is not having enough part time to break down all the stuff I have. Between work and family, there's not much time left.
