Finally got the big one - Pentium Pro

Just cruising along this evening, tearing down computers. Came on a heat sink with a hold down arm I hadn't seen before. Oh well, it'll join the others. CPU is attached - no big deal. Pry it loose and H--- S---:

    Hoping there'll be more.

Was that one of the towers you had socked away in that shed you once told me about? Hopefully there are more in the pile!

No. This was from the ones I bought last Monday from the scrap yard. I'm still working on those, too. Being from a school, unlikely I'll find any there.

My question is, did you put it back in and see if the computer worked. What would a working Pentium Pro computer be worth? And congrats on the find.

No. I'm not even trying to test or sell anything as working. I was at the scrap yard either the day they got there or the next. They were stacked in a sort of neat pile on the ground - outside - where they stayed for three months through rain, snow, blizzards, freezing rain and an ice storm. Most have some rust starting on the frame. We pried several out of the ice. I bring in several at a time; put them in a tub and let them thaw out to let the water run out before tearing them down.

Want to buy a couple cheap?

I'm good thanks, just thought it may be worth a shot. Can you get any pics of the board itself, I have a pro but it came by itself, ive never seen the board it would have gone on.

I can't believe your yard sells to you. My yard buys cpu boards at the same price of tv boards.

And the second one. I took a picture of the board for Brandon. The only thing I noticed was the socket is bigger with a stronger arm.

Just got back from lunch with a friend. Opened another and found - a third one. I know without pictures, it didn't happen but haven't even been home long enough to take a picture.

Wow! When it rains it pours I guess! Congrats Mick I got my first Pentium MMX a couple weeks ago and I was real excited when I first saw that purple ceramic on top! Lol, I figured out pretty quick that it wasn't a Pro but the MMX is still pretty cool.
