It's not only about polishing it up & displaying it.. sometimes the brass fits a re-use need. Like when my neighbor & I just put in a new mailbox to replace the old one that was about to fall over. Part of the problem was that every pass with the weedwhacker took away a little bit of wood at the base of the post. The solution was to cut ~20 inches off one end of a brass door kickplate & form it with my trusty multipurpose rockhammer using a bedframe rail as a form guide.

I just realized that Apollo isn't in this thread. We got this Eagle landing on a globe in Julian, CA in a thrift shop a couple years back. $100 the tag read. I'd've given 200!!!

Hanging brass lamp with frosted cut glass globes. Garage sale. Saw it sitting in the corner in a box. I asked the guy, "how much?" He said I could have it...

I want to say Oh My God on that free lamp. It has to be worth a lot to the right designer. 73, Mike

Thanks. I really have no idea what it is worth, and I really don't care. I love the lamp. I had to put it back together when I got it and I hung it in the living room. Not only is it the jewel of my brass, it is the jewel of my garage saling. Even the chain is brass. I have a similar lamp I bought, but we had to take it down because it was interfering with our TV location. I have it for sale on ebay, but I have gotten no hits. It does not have the character the three globe lamp has.

You and I have about the same amount of feedback but I suspect you've sold way cooler stuff!

I have a few items up right now that pretty much represents what I sell. I did sell a bunch of flashed routers, but for the most part, a pretty eclectic history. I look for the interesting and unusual for ebay, I look for the meat and potatoes for craigslist.

Just got em today. Not sure why, but shipping from DFW to your neck of the woods or vice versa takes a looooong time. I got an item to Saipan quicker!!!!!!

    I'm stoked!

I think it was a square deal all around.

I started looking around at the brass goodies I have held on to and realized there are some pretty cool pieces. I will leave to your imagination what we call this item...

We also kept this item. Debby calls him Bud, because he's a longneck...

    I overpaid....

    Sometimes ya gotta.

If Apollo had had a tag reading $200, it would still be mine. $250, probably... $300..... I might hafta think about it. I'm not sure what the upper limit would actually be.

A family friend has a dining room suite made of solid brass. Imported from Turkey, I think. Each chair is 200#, and I have no idea what the table weighs. It's impressive!

Overpaid is my repetitive bad joke. I gave $5 for the giraffe.
