When I was a kid I used to go riding my bike, collecting cans. When you are 12, earning money isn't as much about earning the money as it is the lack of opportunities. Got out of it for a couple decades, but recently got back in. I do it now for the exercise...normally for an hour or so of riding I'll get 10-12 cans and some odds and ends of small steel. Today was the mother load...over a pound of AL cans, a pound of steel fence post toppers...and almost three pounds of aluminum fence post toppers! I literally couldn't fit anymore in my bucket on the back. I've got a full time job, so the 2 bucks I made is really small in the grand scheme of things, but it's still quite exciting! On a side note, had to stop on the side of the interstate the other day with work...man, there is some serious metal out there. I picked up just under three pounds of AL with a junked piece of DOT placard and a good sized piece of tread plate. Now is a great time around here because the grass is low and dead, and there is no snow. If it wasn't just quite so dangerous I might go do some walking a couple hours a week.
