Here's a fun e-scrap one

Since I am registered with the MPCA ewaste program, a local nonprofit that rebuilds computers called me to retrieve all their unwanted broken PCs. Seriously theres about 80 computers worth of stuff and misc laying in a pile for me. One of their people starts pointing out everything I can take, parts bins, boxes of optical drives, tons of keyboards, all the motherboards, but then stops a pile of hard drives marked as scrap. He says, "Don't touch those. Those are mine; I'm taking them in." I shrugged and said, "No problem. Make the money, bro." I realize he's taking about 30 hard drives but I'm getting boxes of CPUs, PCIs, and Motherboards. Maybe he thinks he's making the most money, maybe he just likes hard drives, but out here the boards and CPUs pay a lot more and I have a ton of them.

And he has all the liability with the info on the HD's.

Perhaps hes reformatting and selling the hard drives for more than scrap, even though they are labelled scrap.

Offer to buy the Hard Drive circuit boards/see how much he is getting for the hard drives... The boards sell for good $$$

I agree 100%. I would not say a word, just smile as you sort through your score and take the money to the bank.

I say let him keep them. A guy like that thinks he's got the best of the best. He'll probably even toss you a few extras in the long run for not giving him a hard time.
If you offer to buy the HD's then he's going to
a) always pull them aside for you to buy
b) wonder why you're not paying for the rest.

Let him have his stack, and take the rest of the free material to the bank!
