I'll be off the sandbar this weekend, will have to see if I can't find a silver testing kit while away.
Thanks again Army.

No problem, you can order silver and gold assay kits on amazon fyi.
I'll be doing that if I fail in finding one while up in Va. Got some gift card balance left at amazon, so that might just be the way to go. Plus I get free 2 day shipping as a prime member.

Relays I sell as Copper Bearing But I still wonder if I might be selling items at low price
Some times gotta dig . Thats Dumpster diving . If you have permission to be there for the time needed to push non metal side to side
just go get it . Also, thats the help the contractors start to appreciate , gives them more room for garbage .
The carting company probably wish it would stay but dumpster renter has last say on property .
Pick a spot a non metal clearing in one area & put it there . I've been at some for 6 hrs
when you leave with 1000 lbs or more thats ok pay for the time
Once you get control of the dumpster visit each day .
Ive had it so that the workers caught on to my punctuality that they just left it near dumpster for me as it saved them work also
Thats called Dumpster Symbiosis

Ha ha! I call it..open the dumpster, an grab it as it's right there.
I hear your saying CH, an appreciate it. Sadly the dumpster it full of all kinds of crap, that I won't be removing. To much of a mess, plus it's my wife's work. I got permission from the big boss of course. I'da gone further in but it just wasn't worth the hassle. Several hundred pounds of old wood, old tile, an broken bathtubs, is just not worth me moving to get stuff.
Now if I had known when the elevator guys were still there, I'da been all over it like you suggested. Sadly I didn't know till they left an the dumpster was filled by another crew that isn't removing metal, or anything else of value. Just broken tile, an broken bathtubs. They are all being replaced it seems.
It is good advice tho, so any new folks or folks looking to do the same, do as CH says. Sadly it just isn't an option for at this time.
Thanks again CH, good advice!

SSaL,
Whats the hp of the motor you have? Is it 120/240V single phase? That might go on craigs for a few dollars more than scrap, too, especially if it is over 1/2 hp. The pullies and chain drive might make it a little more attractive to some, too.
More photos would be interesting...especially of the gray box by the transformer in the smaller cabinet.
I checked how far I'm from your location...that cooler has been on my mind....umh, 42 hours drive, 4200 km. Opposite sides of the continent practically. Darn!
Jon.
Would it help if I told you I'd get you a discount on the hotel room? A BIG one? ::grin::
An actually the motor is being parted out, an sold.
I will take more photos, been meaning to but got stuck trying to get things taken care of before I head out tomorrow.
Sirscrapalot - 4,000 miles isn't that FAR.
It's a small haul to a man pulls much, but it's a big score for a little dude. I'm thankful either way for whatever I find each day. As long as I come up with one item a day, my quota is met. However, I usually find much more though.
A solid way of thinking, an my own thoughts.
It's a good day to have anything to work on, an even better day when it's multiple things.
I was quite pleased. Specially as it's new to me, I don't usually get things of this nature. Now I need to find a home for a laptop.
Dell Inspiron 600m, if anyone knows of a good home. It works an I won't be scrapping it. Haha! Collector's item people, no more windows XP!
Sirscrapalot - AWOL for the weekend.
Yep, I got 90 dell towers today with XP from a insurance company, removed their hard drives and dismantled them down to the platters before I hauled...physical wipe with a magnet works like a charm.
The Ice cube relays will have several different styles of contact depending on required reliability. Some are soldered onto the buss some are punched through. Its a lot of work to get at them but its not hard work. These contacts will be silver cadmium contacts. The cadmium makes them harder so they burn up less frequently.
The Clad style refine in the 5%Ag range and are less desirable to refine.

Did you use the magnets from the HD's? I'm having a buddy take a look at it tomorrow, an make sure it's all good, in regards to viruses an the like. He's my local computer nerd. lol. An loves it when I bring him things like this.
Either way, the sucker needs a home. First shot to ya'll, second will be finding someone local. I can tell you I won't be scrapping it, unless prices go way up for a laptop. It's worth more then 6.50 or whatever people are paying for scrap laptops.
I love it when I derail my own threads.

SirScrapalot, I love my silver and gold testing kit. I'm not so good at the gold testing yet, but I love testing for silver. I love seeing that bloody red color.
