I have been saving lead as I find it , then melt into 4 lb bars .

I think you are missing the bigger picture. The cost of producing a bullet just increased due to the ban on lead bullets and shot by requiring the use of other metal i.e copper. What this does is make the price of ammunition more costly to the average gun owner. Just a work around way to put more regulations and laws on the books to regulate guns and LEGAL gun owners.
Now ask yourself who has deep enough pockets that can afford to buy copper ammunition in large qty? It is also the same entity who recently purchased over 4 billion rounds of 9 mm ammo.
The United States govt thats who!!! The purchase was not for military use but for Home Land Security. Read that again.... HOMELAND SECURITY!!!!

Your implication is Home Land security could be used against American citizens
For now a pack of bullets could exceed the cost of a low level gun.
I am surprised Zinc alloys are not the next choice
If a true Lead ban was to occur then criminals with lead bullets would also have a new
law against humanity Attempted lead poisoning .
For an individual who has a gun to protect himself a box of ammo could last a life time
but the real gun collectors will get hit hard particular people who have lots of guns.

just like any other regulation it is quickly followed by a black market.
the only one paying more will be the gov haha
anyone buying any serious ammo is already getting it from overseas not from our own producers.

I guess it will come down to demand
will the average gun owner buy new expensive copper rounds thus keeping artificial copper prices up and curbing demand for ammo, or will the average gun owner keep doing what they are already doing re-loading and buying cheap legal or illegaly imported lead ammo.
There is too much saturation in the market to phase out lead rounds for decades and no way to track where/when it was made.

If the gov only uses copper let em. Id rather get hit accidentally by a copper bullet. But people who make there own will continue they have to much vested in supplies . Also they like the freedom. Not for nothing some real down rite murdering rape criminals when fleeing deserve lead.
