Marathon Day earlier this week...One of my regular HVAC guys that knows of my construction experience scheduled me to work with him on Monday. Apartment building needing it's hot water tanks(2) replaced for domestic hot water and in order to get them out, the the boiler that was dedicated to them along the spider web of 2" copper pipe needed to be removed. Had to shut down water and heat to the building so we were there till the job was done and the building was back up and running.

Rolled in at 830 am and wrapped up over 17 hours later. Tanks weighed just shy 500# each and were a real treat to get out of the basement...they were just a tip as it was a paid job. Should have taken some pics but it was one of those jobs that you feel a sense of accomplishment but don't necessarily want the visual reminder ever again.

Lady called during the job that wanted to schedule a pick up but when I told her it wouldn't be till the next day she said never mind. Just a reminder that even though it takes years for these people to accumulate this stuff...when they want it gone they want it gone.

Prefer the old KZ's but always wanted to play around with one of the old CB F Series...found a 1973 CB350F 4 Cylinder with title at auction today for less then $400. Needs side covers to be complete and an afternoon of CPR.

Oooh, that CB350 is a beauty! You got a bargain there!

Is the seat still original? How many miles on it? Hopefully the carbs won't be gummed up with old gas.

    Jon--colour me envious green.

Thanks Saw...Seat was been redone about 17 years ago when the owner had the bike gone over by a local shop so that he could take it with when they went RV'in. He put it in the barn after a trip or two and that is where it sat ever since. I will plan on taking all 4 carbs apart to clean them up and clean out the tank then move on to the points and plugs. It has about 20k on the ticker.

Bowling ally by the Redbox we go to closed about a month ago so I've been keeping an eye on it. Roll-offs showed up Thursday so I figured they would start tomorrow but they started yesterday instead. No steel yesterday but this morning when I returned a movie they were hard at it and leaving the steel out for us scrappers...van was empty so loaded up and started making runs to the house(5 minutes away).

When I got there this morning (bowling alley) to see if anything was out the Boss Man asked if I could remove all the metal in the building by the end of the week...It's going to be a busy week...30-35 tons give or take.

These are three of the 32 pin-setters.

These contractors are smart! They don't want to deal with the metal, and they don't want the cost of disposing the metal either! So they could have got payed for scrapping it or payed to put it in a landfill or better put it at the curb!!!! No cost to them.

The tidbits they were putting out that I snatched up were free, but when it came to the substantial weight there is $$ involved and it goes back to AMF.

Seeing the place as it's getting gutted is quite a site...endless amounts of wood under all those alleys.

Had a great time. I bowled like crap(don't do it much on the sandbar, almost 7 bucks a game..feh.) but the shooters were good. lol.

    Pink Floyd – Dogs Lyrics
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
    Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
    Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.

Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.

Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

First the bad...Door was closed and area was clean at the end of the day yesterday...scrapper was probably pissed that there wasn't anything in there or maybe he is just a disrespectful slob.

Here is a before and after of what the demo crew got done today(there is another 16 lanes that you can't see). Under the alley's are 2 x 10 standing up with 2 x 4's laying across. All 32 lanes of the subfloor were demoed today except for a ramp to get to the back.

The big steel hoops you see in the back weigh about 500 pounds each.

Just over 18 tons moved in the past two days using just over a half a tank of gas...Steel hoops tomorrow

These are the hoops that are in the background of the previous pic...they are called elevators. They lift the bowling ball up and send it back to the guy wearing the funny shirt and shoes.

Finished up yesterday. Great crew to work with that know how to bust a$$ for 10 hours a day, without a day off in weeks. They know how to tear these alleys apart because they build them too...They have till Monday morning to get to the next job in another state up north to start a fresh build. Took them out to eat one night and had a great time.
