    Popped the Breaker

So I was sitting in my room and i finished my homework so started to take apart this small water airator from the hydroponics in the greenhouse at school because it broke and my Ag teacher let me have it. I wanted to see if it still worked so I plugged it into the outlet, nothing happened, so i was fiddling around with it when i touched the two brass of the power cord together while it plugged in. I saw a flash, then heard a pop and the lights went out and i was in the dark and smelled smoke. I grabbed a flashlight and ran downstairs and the lights were still on because that room is on a separate breaker, lucky for me because my parents don't know what happened, and i didn't get hurt. Moral of the story, don't be stupid or play with electricity when you're not a real electritian even if you think you are haha. Thank you for reading all of this if you did!

Didn't we have a thread detailing our rookie mistakes? I thought I remembered reading one.

Makes ya feel better there TK I've popped the breakers here at the house a couple of times. lol. Once when the wife was working on a project in her sewing room. Needless to say, she wasn't very happy, an it cost me a nice dinner to make it up to her. heh.

I now test stuff on outlet in the carport. It's on the same circuit as my shop, so if anything goes, its only in my shop an not upstairs in the house.

Sirscrapalot - I was walking down fifth avenue today and I found a wallet, and I was gonna keep it, rather than return it, but I thought: well, if I lost a hundred and fifty dollars, how would I feel? And I realized I would want to be taught a lesson. - Emo Philips

Our WiFi is on the same circuit as a shop space and so when it pops things come to a screeching halt in the house and the world is nearing it's end in the eyes of my wife and daughter...for close to 5 minutes anyway.

A little shock can be better then coffee sometimes...be sure to unplug the cause of the problem before resetting the breaker.
