I have had some yards not want them, some yards try to pay copper bearing .30 (some are) some try to pay straight alu price. I shopped till I found the one that pays proper price, extruded. they are always cleaner then window or door frames.
The yards are running scared right now like the rest of us and, are saving $ when and how ever they can.
In relative terms IT scrap is in it's infancy You have to keep in mind the vast majority of yards do not understand it and there for don't buy it at reasonable prices.
Last week I went to one of my old stand by yards sand they tried to pay me com wire price for ALL computer wire. I had separated the many strand and ribbon cable from all the other computer wire. I was ready for them. I had cut a 6" piece of the smaller power supply wire and stripped it. total weight 1.7 g whole, stripped the copper weighed 1 g the insulation .7, this puts it over 50% It is #2. I got my $, the yard grader backed down when I presented my proof. this little trick doubled my $.
