Sheeeesh, you'd think the cold would not stop ppl putting scrap out lol!
However, last night, I was originally going to SKIP the first 2 towns of the normal 4 town Monday night scrap run just to save gas because previous two months didn't yield much.
Dang good thing I didn't. I don't know how I got all this home in my truck in one load but I had to make 2 runs to the scrap yard to take it for turn in which made even less sense lol.
In the back of my truck I had (these were the largest items):
1 dryer
1 projection tv
7 tube tvs
1 of the largest Christmas trees I've ever seen, had to be over 100 lbs easy!
4 metal chairs (deck style)
9 sweepers
1 carpet steam cleaner
2 large office chairs
2 bikes
2(!!) basket ball hoops (with poles and back plates)
1 sink (with counter top attached)
2 heaters
1 computer tower
1 nice wood end table for my son
hundreds (its seemed lol) small misc items thrown in around all that large stuff.
I turned in 1245 lbs of just steel alone. With the weight of the 7 tube tvs not counted nor the projection tv which I didn't get to yet nor the garbage plastic, glass, etc materials from the breakdown, I was carrying pretty dang heavy! I don't know how much the tube tvs weight but they were ranged from monitor size to medium large size.
Hubby drove the last town to give me a break and I had to put monitors on the floor, one in the middle between us on the seat, I had electronics on the dash board and stuff in my lap. my feet were scrunched up in front of me on the seat and I couldn't get out of the truck to pick anything else up I was so stuffed in there.
I had strapped layer on top of strapped layer on top of strapped layer with some bungy corded items as well.
I didn't lose one item off the truck and it was piled so high by the time we got to the last town (my own) hubby said lets go offload or quit. I said nope, we still have straps left and we can use the tailgate if need be for a large item with the board in front blocking the other stuff from falling out since we were so close to our house and could drive slowly, and if we go home to offload someone else will get the stuff. Wouldn't you know it, when we backed in another scrapped drove by.
We started out at 6pm and finished at 3:34 in the morning.
My son got up this morning, saw the garage and outside overflowing and asked if we were driving him to work today. Uh YEAH!! do you not see all this scrap that needs taken in????!!!!! You are NOT driving my truck today son!!
That was one of those nights where I needed higher sides or my trailer which is parked at my dads house.
