    got a great deal today

I posted on facebook after: e waste, white ware, electrical items free pick up and no charge for recycling.
I had a computer shop contact me, I came over to the store today to chat with the owner he showed me around etc. To cut a long story short he said to me sorry mate but we got to strip the computers down. I said that is no problem what so ever.....lol.....
he then shows me a huge pile of cpu's, a pile of ram, a pile of mother boards. then takes me into a shed where there is about 2 loads of computer cases. First load today was
    cpu mixed 3kg about 6.6Lbs
    ram 2kg about 4.4Lbs
mother boards 20 kg about 44Lbs
    computer power units 15kg 33Lbs
    computer power cords 20kg 44lbs

that's the best e scrap pick up I have done.
I also have a e scrap recycling company interested in selling me their cpu's, however they want me to provide what I do with each part and who I am selling to etc which I am not keen on
anyway sorry for the spelling errors just wanted to share

DON'T do that. They may sell you some of it, but then they'll cut out the middle man pretty quickly I think!

    got a great deal today

some companies need to prove proper recycling with a list of where everything ends up
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

bake, I think its just that company covering their butts in the long run. Like Matt says, they have to follow ewaste laws as it is so, if they get rid of it they have to show where it goes.

But, Matt - would that actually even matter if they sell the stuff? it's out of their hands at that point. Wouldn't the paper trail end after they sell it? Like when we sell to the yard, we don't have to show proof of what happened to it after that point.

    OP, congrats on your score!!!

Tell them you home refine the processors end of story! They are phishing for better pricing and you may buy one lot but after that you will be out in the cold. Had a local buyer once ask me if I needed his truck to pick up a big load of servers. He would have his driver go with me to where ever i was getting them. Yeah right...and then offer to pay more and shut me out. No thanks.
Keep your buyers and sellers close to the vest and let them do the same work you did.

Certain recycling permits or classifications require a paper trail all the way to the last person to touch it.

What BC said. I'd agree with Matt, but the fact they want your seller an, pricing..yea no. My yard doesn't ask where I sell my stuff to. They ask where I got my stuff. If they did ask they'd get laughed at, an told I may have been born at night, but it wasnt last night. I'm pretty open with what I do, but I don't give away my main secrets..like who I sell to an for how much.

A yard will take any excuse to bend you over. Ok not all yards, but a good bit of them will do it. I'm sure we all have tales of dealing with a shady yard.

NEWSFLASH TO YARD OWNERS: We're not as stupid as you think we are. Some of us do know what were doing an that is what separates us from the rest that do this. An we also talk with one another, hence this wonderful forum. I'm all for calling out a yard on here that does shady stuff. Put'm on blast an let them reap what they sow.

Jerk move? Maybe. But screwing me over won't be tolerated.

Thankfully, the one crap yard near me, I don't deal with, the other has improved big time since me an the owner had a little chat. an my main yard is always exceptional.

BC I'm stealing your tagline for my quote today.

Some days are going to be like that. In the scrap business, it's not a matter of if, but when the big score will come.

the items from the first yard are all for free.
the second wants to sell me there cpu's at an undisclosed price however I would be to provide a flow chart....I am happy if the had an idea on how to process e waste however they don't so there for I do not want to provide details.
I understand that there are legal ramifications if they provide items that will be used to create industrial waste the provider can be prosecuted.
