    Picked up a biggy.

I got an e waste contract today. I'd rather not say with whom, but I got all 24 locations plus corporate. Estimated 2500 towers a month plus misc. waste.

I will be going out to celebrate tonight. It just goes to show you, cold calling or even showing up at various locations and making your pitch can and does pay off.

I am PAYING for this stuff minus per diem (fuel use) to acquire it. I had to beat out a competitor who was simply doing the picking up for free. I did the corporate pickup today and will have to come back tomorrow I filled the truck, inside and out, the trailer front to back.

Also got the contract without having to handle CRTs.

Looks like I'm in the market for a building to work out of, my pole shed isn't enough anymore since it's also filled with cars and motorcycles and most of you know my living room by now...need to stop using it for break downs, I got stabbed in the foot by a screw this morning.

Congrats! And you don't have to deal with the CRT's! What are they going to do with them??

    Armygreywolf:

This reminds me of a proverb I once heard, it stuck to me.

There are 2 types of dogs

The domestic dog, it waits for his owner to give him his next meal.

The wolf, when he is hungry he goes out and hunts his next meal.

Now I know what type of dog you are!

    Congrats, definitely worth celebrating

State subsidy program. Don't know the details of it but along the same lines as the goodwill program. I'd just assume not deal with it, I have a bad shoulder from getting stabbed a while back and handling alot of CRTs is not a real good idea. It's also why my cousin does the heavy lifting and I scout and dismantle.

Screws in the foot. I think we all know about those. Even if you never do a tear down in the house, they still find their way into the house via the bottom of your shoe. In the garage I just let them fly and always do a sweep up at the end of the day.

Grats on the great gig. Hopefully the guy you displaced won't come back and sweeten the deal and take it away.

Are you offering certified data destruction at all? Or are hard drives not involved.

    Wow, awesome job. Huge congratulations.

Have enough space to deal with that volume monthly? I can barely keep up with my whopping 10-20 a week. (750 square foot, bleh).

Yes I do certified data destruction. I physically destroy the platters. I offer this service on site, customer receives a receipt transferring ownership and responsibility of waste to me when it's done. This is optional, should they sell me drives as is (I still destroy them if they test bad) but I require a data destruction certification by serial #. I consulted a lawyer on this and while it is alot of paperwork just for 50-70 cents a drive it covers my butt and theirs and everyone is happy. They will know I'm coming a day or two in advance and I always forward preperation instructions for sensitive items (HDDs, solid state drives, EPROMS and memory cards/sticks NOT RAM).

Right now my B2B price list applies, I am locked in on it for 6 months BUT I get per diem fuel use deducted off the payout. Works fine for me and them, data is covered, e waste is properly disposed AND they get paid for it.

I don't know what I'll do about space. I removed all my excess materials and took in my shred today. In the interim rent a big storage unit, about all I can do until I've settled into a building.

Well...finding space looks like it could go two ways, but I think for the purposes of saving money we will process and turn in shred every day for now, the rest will go in gaylords to be processed every two weeks or so. I've got a few weeks to plan this all out, I only picked up from the locations that NEEDED it so far, everyone else is holding on for a bit.
