That definitely does not make sense. One of the yards near me pays 10 cents a pound for tin. Electric motors are listed for 25 cent a pound.
If you are not doing it already do not forget on most refrigerators on the inside box those metal bars that keeps items on door shelves are aluminum. Also if you will remove the plastic walls out of the freezer you can retrieve the aluminum cooler out of there.
And on the washers and dryers, the metal sheeting that is between the knobs and the circuitry at the top of the appliance is usually aluminum also.
