I have an Edelbrock Intake "Torker II 5001" ($155 New)
    8598A Holley 2 Barrel Carb
Rims- Supposed to be off a Firebird.. Restorers pay about $200-$300 Set.. But I'd sell em to anyone with the cash!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

Derby guys love 2 bbl stuff put it on a demo buy sell trade site and it'd be gone quick ! Also I'm a member of a local demo buy sell trade demo derby Facebook page, love it and it's FREE ! And since it's more localized it finds guys close so less shipping hassles. Square tubing, channel iron and the like are popular with this crowd for building safety cages so if you find any pieces 6' or longer make be able to barter with demo guys. Just some ideas sledge and certain over rims are highly sought after by demo guys. Don't think those are firebird rims I'm thinking Buick but correct me if I'm wrong.

    Tater-
Best research I have said they were Pontiac Firebird Rally II Rims. Regardless they are 15x7 GM 5 Lugs.. Had a call on em yesterday.. but dude wanted to put 315/75 15's on em. I couldn't vouch they would work.. told him to call a tire place and ask if his tires would be safe and work on these rims. Didn't hear back. But on the sale goes!

Sledge- Just curious if you bought this storage locker or you got all of this stuff for cleaning it out. You certainly don't have to answer if you don't want to...

This was a freebie. Landlord came to my jobsite and said "I've given legal notice to the former tenant.. 30 days is up.. Take anything you want!"

Got a call from an Auto Dealership I've been doing some pickups for- all non-car stuff.. just 100 lbs here and there. My contact is an awesome dude.. gives me the straight scoop right away. I looked at this BEATER van outside and he said "You want to talk to the used car manager about it" I said "Yes Sir"

I walk into the showroom and my guy introduces me. First thing out of the managers mouth is "So are you the Junk Man?" I laughed and said "I'm a recycler.. building a better world for my kids"

Not sure if I'll get the van or not. They want too much for it, with steel prices right now I may do a bunch of work to break even.. no time for that!

Well since Steel is at $400/ton (Bwaaa haa haa) I knew I needed to get that winch fixed from its "fail" a few months back.
Finally got her crimped, attached, and stretched onto the winch today- just in time.. we are supposed to get a WHOLE 2-4" of Snow (Oh my gawsh)

Terminal End with new M6 bolt with Threadlocker, Terminal is crimped and spot tack welded:

    Sledge,

What did you end up using for a cable end? In the picture it looks like a copper colour, like an electrical cable lug...but you said you tack welded it....? What kind of crimper did you eventually find?

Hmmm....welding copper to stainless. WOW! I'm gonna come to you when I need the crack of my azz welded up!! Or fixing the crack of dawn!!

    Saw-
I ended up using a Hobart #2/0 Wire Lug 3/8" Stud Terminal Cable End. I basically used a cold chisel to make three dings in it- 2 on one side and 1 on the other so that they made a "V" so to speak. I then took it to my welder who ever so carefully dropped a tiny weld at the end for me- just for "make me sleep better at night."

So he never actually welded copper to steel- it is just a nice bead "slug" on the end at the base of the terminal end so it won't slide off. He was super careful not to overheat so he didn't damage the tiny strands of the cable- the dude is a super-pro!

    Sledge,

You came up with a pretty thoughtful solution to a difficult problem. And getting your guy to put the bead on the end of the cable was darn clever, too....I'm assuming that to pull the cable out of the lug that bead would have to pulled through the crimped lug... all in all, a good fix to something that is otherwise hard to fix without special tooling!

I'm kinda laughing--I can just see Patriot running around with blood coming out his ears trying to get the image of someone welding up my hairy Azz out of his mind!! I guess it IS kinda revolting!

By the way, anything further on moving out of town?

    Jon.

    Jon-
Thank you sir. Took me a lot longer to engineer that darn thing than I thought. If I were to do over again I probably would have just bought one with an end already attached.. BUT.. I got this on sale (12,000 lb winch replacement line) at HF on sale at $35 bucks. Terminal end was $7 and the welder did the tack for me for free. I'd know how to do it if I ever have to again.. but it was a lot longer process than I anticipated.

With steel being in ze toilet I wasn't in a huge rush.. but January is coming and I wanted to get it resolved before the snow flew and cars become a lot more abundant in the winter (Christmas bills people have to pay and such)

As far as the country move- we are looking at a 5 year plan of attack. We re-financed our mortgage on the present house to a 15 year about 2 years ago. By my amortization schedule by the time that 5 year mark comes we will have quite a bit more equity in the house- which will make the move and our next adventure much more economically pleasing. I was also recently able to re-negotiate my present contract and garnished a fairly sizable rate increase.. so adding both of those factors in together- 5 years we will sit very pretty.

We have our eye on a few properties.. but will continue to monitor them and go with the flow.
