I don't care how many times I see it. This sight ALWAYS brings a smile to my face:

Always such a sense of finality.. hours spent hunting.. negotiating.. stripping.. ripping.. tearing.. cutting... sawing... and snipping.. comes to an end! A good end.. for I know she has been picked as clean as she can be picked.. every nickel has been wringed out of her.. and she shall soon be reincarnated into a few hundred toasters in the near future!

Hopefully someone came through for the transmission out of it?

    So Close.. but no dice!
My two options were as follows:
    A. Guy wants me to leave my trailer with Jimmy on it at his shop and come get it in the morning (Yeah Right)
    B. Guy has no idea how to pull the tranny.. but "thinks he and his buddy can figure it out"

I did a quick risk assessment and came up with the following:
Guy A: Not worth the $200 bucks to risk my trailer and the truck vanishing in the night in a bad part of town from some dude who contacted me via CL
Guy B: Not worth the $200 bucks for him to potentially get crushed on my trailer trying to "figure it out"

Sadly, it went to the yard with the tranny in it.. told the yard manager.. he snickered and gave me the "Blank it" waveoff with a smile on his face.

They guy seemed legit.. but I would have said "Why don't I show up to your place at say 7 AM.. and you can have all day to pull it with me there.. as long as we can pull it and get to the yard"
It's never a really good sign when someone says to leave it.. and "I ain't no thief" Which I believe him in a sense.. but I won't even leave my trailer on my jobsite!

Thats a shame that it got crushed but it doesn't sound like you had much in the way of options. If I had a nickel for every time someone on Craigslist told me they wanted an item and actually followed through on it....

I saw this poster in a museum in Cincinnati but could not get a good picture of it. Found it online and loved it so much.. it has now been changed as my avatar. Just as relevant today as it was during WW2

"Tomato cages" just instantly brought to my mind a mental pic of angry tomatoes with snarling faces pressing against the bars just trying to get close enough to bite you back.
