The pixs looks like .30-06 which would be WWII, Korea but I suppose they also manufactured it during Vietnam as well. What's the head stamp on the bottom of the case say on one, something "LC 48"?? Should have a couple of letters of the place of manu and then a number which would be the year.

The commercial rifle ammo .30-06 or some other cartridge? Thanks!
Ok well I'll try and answer these questions (I admit ammo is not my norm)
The canvas "bags" say this on them:
    CAL. 30 BALL M2
    5 RD Clips
    HXP 3010-73

The bullets themselves are stamped "HXP 73"
They are exactly 3 3/8" Long with tip
If I JUST measure the "shell" it is 2.5" Long
    So 30-06
    -----------------------------
The American Eagle ammo is definitely 30-06:
    Markings: F C
    30-06 SPRG
    "Shell" is also 2.5"
Tip brings it to 3 1/4" overall
    -----------------------------
    Remington
    30-06 Sringfield 220 grain core-Lokt Soft Point
    "Shell" is also 2.5"
Tip brings it to 3 1/4" overall
    Markings: RP
    30-06 SPRG

Sorry to make you work over time sledge. The non-military stuff is pretty self explanatory so I should have made it more clear just needed to know about the ball ammo. Looks like your stuff was made in Greece. Who would have guessed! Find an '06 shooter in your area and you should be able to make some deals. I can make .308 cases out of .30-06 (and might have been interested if it was just the brass) but live rounds are better for the actual right gun. I hope you turn some coin on your finds

Might want to waste some time on Armslist.com...that HXP is supposed to be good ammo.

Why can't I ever find anything like that?

    Great score sledge.

No worries man.. I would have had to do the digging anyway in order to educate myself as to what I have anyway.
So basically this guy seemed to own a 9mm and a 30-06.
Neat to learn that those HXP rounds are actually older than ME! Been sitting there.. waiting to be fired for 41 years now?

Find any 22 shells ? They're like gold round these parts, store sell out in minutes after stocking them, because everyone's hoarding them. Something to keep in mind if you find any. The 550 round "brick" that retails at maybe 30, I've seen em sell for as much as 120$ because you can't find em. I'm found many 22's in cars and pickups I've bought just an fyi for everyone.

I hear that, it's gotten a bit better here now. Before you had to be back in sporting goods waiting when you saw truck pull in if you wanted any. Crazy.

Just something you may need to watch out for, is having some type of Possession/acquisition license, don't know how it works down there, but here to buy or sell guns you have to have one. Just want to throw that out there in case you weren't aware or forgot

Well I'm not sure of anything like that. Since I'm not selling any firearms does this apply?
Worst case.. I turn it into the police station and the local officers have a field day firing them off in their spare time

Your a private individual not a business, you should have no problem selling them. I would check some of the mom-pop gun shops. The big chain stores usually buy new from their warehouse. If you have nothing in them then the small shops could make an offer.

    Indiana does not:
    •Require a license for the sale of ammunition;
    •Require sellers of ammunition to maintain a record of the purchasers;
•Require a license to purchase or possess ammunition; or
•Impose a minimum age for the purchase or possession of ammunition.

It's illegal to sell armor-piercing, you need a license if you're selling reloaded ammo.

    Nice score Sledge!
Those utility belts run around $30
bring that load too a local shooting range and you will come home with nothing but cash.

Not a bad idea! There is a guy up the street from me who deals in guns.. but I wouldn't give him my svetty balls.. he's an arse! Wish someone on here was close.. but no worries.. I'm sure I will find someone to buy these.. just need to get into the right "circle"
One member is already picking away at the Choo Choo goodies! So all good!

Luckily none of these are re-loaded.. all seem completely original.
I do have all the store bought ammo..which obviously is not reloaded stuff.. whoot
