What iteams do you make the most money on.??????????

Just sitting home and thought this would be a interesting tread to start. We have a very diverse community here from all across the U.S.A. and abroad. We make our most profit from scrapping commercial and industrial Air conditioning units, just wanted to see what other guys on here have to say please don't tell us copper in a pure copper form, what you do to get your copper would be more along the lines I am looking for just using copper as an example. Here are a couple of units we have scraped. This could be interesting.1956

Thanx for the pics. I see these are not your every day window units. I see your down in south east Florida, do these units come from the tops of high rise buildings in down town Miami? I scrap mostly electronics, easyer for me to load and carry around than those AC units.

Well I have a few commercial union A/C contractors that sell me there units, they come from office buildings & Hospitals in the area of Miami to West Palm Beach I have also been in coco beach and Naples we go where the jobs are.

This wire brings in a pretty penny.
I buy it like this, unsorted, and full of random things with wires. I clip all the ends and sort the wire and ends accordingly.

Interest in scrapping has been a life long pursuit. Limited experience with escrap limits a comment on these elements. I can honestly say, the most money made has been from information on this forum. With this resource, I believe anyone can make a living scrapping full time with commitment, desire, and research. Cut to the chase, most money has been made from ferrous and non ferrous metal. I am not picky.

I work for a place that makes industrial laundry equipment. Lots of wire going to 20-40 hp motors. however, not much scrap from that but we buy old machines and rebuild them. the guys strip off every bit of wire from the control boxes and wire harnesses. I pay low end prices for it, sort it and strip 14awg and up. we use right up through 2 awg. whenever i see new rebuild machines arrive at the loading dock i smile ear to ear. I make about 50-75 profit per! I do it part time, but still make a couple hundred a month. few weeks ago i won my first computer auction. 60 units w/ lcds plus a ton of old printers and several server units. new to e-scrap, but i'm hooked!

Do a lot of commercial properties, including the dumpsters so I handle just about everything. Last year did almost a ton in plastic bottles (#1 PET). Calif. has a CRV law so theres a built in collection fee. Because I do a lot and have a commercial account, $1.10 to $1.14 a pound. At one property with 18 dumpsters, all commercial/industrial users on a hot day the amount of water bottles can be a nice haul. The red metals is where we make the most money, but that's another story.
