Had an interesting load myself today; a maybe 58 model Pontiac Chieftain and a 58 Ford convertible (what was left of it).
ya yunkman mine came from laurel,ne off craigslist. mine did not come easy on this one broke my come a long trying to get is straight on the trailer while i winched with the winch on the front. then my dad left my tail gate down by mistake and messed up the tailgate on the truck little bit and it broke the trailer jack. it fought us the whole way. ya to bad that 58 is too far gone otherwise would made a good restore project for someone.
hey how much do you offer people for junk cars? way i been doing it i call the scrap yard to see what they are getting per ton and offer half of that. just trying to get an idea what to offer?

I do all my business on half; no matter the item. Farm cleanup includes everything from wire, rusted tin, vehicles, farm machinery and appliances. Prices at yards usually only change once a month so I keep current on the price but only frequent one yard because of the distance. If you become a volume customer of a scrapyard, they'll throw you a bonus over and above the 50/50 which is yours to keep.
Talk about bad luck, I lost my whole trailer trying to deliver a duck blind to Cedar County last week. Broke a spring but I'm so glad no one got hurt. It veered to the right and down in the ditch. Still don't know why it popped off the ball. Had a new A frame coupler welded on just last fall......on the 23 yr old trailer that never gave me problems before.
So much for the duck blind, but it was built on a small trailer with a hitch so maybe I have something to haul a lawnmower on now.
Do not for get the catalytic converter.
2 words,,, safety chains. Up here it is a hefty fine if you don't have them. my car trailer has safety chains as well as a safety break away system on both axles. so if it does come off! the break away system will set the breaks. also on my ball i tightened the nut the best i can get it put a few washers on it then drilled a hole on the ball and cotter pinned it. so it can not come loose!
far as the coupler go's i lock down the locking tab then put my padlock in the hole so it can't come disengaged while towing. i always think its better to be safe then sorry!

The camper haulers used to have a trick of putting a soft link in the safety chain that would break the chain if the trailer came loose, so it wouldn't drag the truck into the ditch and wreck it. The DOT caught on and started jumping on the chains at the scale-houses, and if one broke it was an automatic large fine and an 8 hour break till the chain was fixed. We're talking $500 to 1000. dollar fines, they weren't messing around.
