I managed to tick off 2 people yesterday, hope it wasn't any of you!!

I had come down the middle of 3 off shoot streets and sitting in front of me across the way were 2 mowers and 2 bikes. I waited for the all clear and pulled straight across into her driveway. Next thing I hear an engine revving and tires squealing and another truck pulling out behind me in a tiff!!

I think what happened was he passed them on the main street and went around to pull in and get them like I did and by the time he got there I was already in the driveway!

I'm sure he was letting out some cuss words from the way those tires squealed!!

the lady came out and said she had just put them out like 5 minutes ago lol.

    ******

    Yard roller:

Next thing, some car pulls into my drive and says he had seen it out on his way to work (across at the neighbors)and sent his wife over to ask about it but nobody was home.

What happened was, before I could go get it (it was in the neigbors front yard) because I was loading all that stuff from the weekend up, apparently he stopped and moved it further up into the yard and I never noticed . Well, he came to my house that night before I left on my big run (stranger) and said they told him they had given it to me and to talk to me about what he wanted. He said he told them he saw it first and had even sent his wife to ask about it, I guess he was real adamant with them over this issue.

Anyways, he said he needed the frame because he already had the roller just not a frame. He started walking over to it with a pair of pliers like he was going to take it apart before I could even say ''sure, go ahead and take it.''

Now, IMO, they gave it to me - the guy pulled into my yard and said go ahead and get it. it just took me a bit to get over there because I was busy and only have two hands!

I let him take the frame because I wanted to be nice but, I didn't have to. He just seemed like he wasn't going to let up pushing for it you know?

    What would you have done?

Totally depends on his attitude, if he was pushy he would have been told to hang it in his @ss, if he was nice then I might have helped him load it.

please tell me you got the two mowers... mowers are my thing!! I was picking one night and i saw a competitor of mine.. then i turn out onto a street and he is behind me. I was going the speed limit (about 30mph) and he was going slower. Suddenly i see a pile of shop lights.. and i overshot it. Then my competition was there when i overshot it. Dang. But i never heard a story like yours.. i would have said tough s***. Unless he was a dad or something and needed the bikes for the kids, then i would give him the bike, but not the mowers..

    Spring is definitely here.

Passed what looked like really huge coils of wire on top of the cans last night...said "holy sh*t, copper" turned the truck around in a blink, had a guy pull up behind me as soon as I stopped, thought oh boy here we go "trash wars"...got out, some kind of hollow empty plastic casing. Got back in the truck...other guy checked it out and got back in his truck. Passed up 2 more checking it out before I left the area.

Someone was probably setting inside the house looking out the window and having a grand old time.

Had a guy get mad at me for wanting his broken dishwasher he set out at the curb. When I asked him about it, he said "you don't want that! That thing leaks everywhere!" When I said I wanted it for scrap metal, he looked at me like I was an idiot, shrugged his shoulders, and said "you better move your d*amn truck, cuz' im leaving" even though my truck wasn't even blocking his driveway. I hopped In my truck and drove off. I didn't feel like being treated like crap. Soneone else can have it.

I've also had a lady get pissed at me for taking wire that was sitting on her trash can. She marched out and started interrogating me like I was some crack head digging through her trash for credit card information. I told her I was just taking it for recycling, but it was a huge deal to her. I put it back and will never go down that street again. I guess scrappers are like rats in richer neighborhoods, everyone hates them.

I blame it on the media who will say/repeat anything just to fill some space/on air time, the politicians who will say/repeat anything to get re-elected and the actual thieves who will destroy anything to get a bit of scrap. Also I blame it on the unthinking and too lazy to utilize their brains to figure out the truth who listen to the media and politicians.

I think you handled it the best you could, wealthy in appearance or not she was not worth your time to educate and no doubt unwilling to learn. Mike.

Found a a/c compressor on the curb about 2 weeks ago. Looked like a fire hydrant. Pick it up, putting it in the truck and dude from across town pulls up, gets out and says "hey, I was comming back for this." Well, i drove passed his house about 15 minutes earlyer and his truck was at home but all I said was sure you were. As hes walking around in circles throwing his hands in the air saying "oh its ok cause you got it, its ok" Get in the truck pull away while hes still rambling, I get down the street and theres a generator. As im putting that in the truck he drives passed with a pissed off look on his face and floored it. Yeah, ur cool guy. room room.

If someone is there the same time as you are and causing problems. Offer or split something. Not worth fighting over. Lately I noticed people are really getting aggressive and willing to fight for something. I'm not willing to fight some drug heads for a few dollars.

I tend to be overly generous with people that want to use parts off my scrap pile to repair their stuff. sometimes it leads to more scrap, but at the very least it promotes a rumor about at least one respectful scrapper. However I have low tolerance for idiots and trouble makers.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

I think it was a "oh she's just a girl, I can push her around" type of dude. We've all met them. Proud of you for not punching him in the nose, or throwing him off your property. Come on to my property, with tools in hand an start to take my stuff, we'll have issues. Last I checked..with curbco , it's pretty much first come first serve. How you gonna get mad over something like that? I got better things to get pissed off over then..ooh no, someone beat me to some metal! Dude was a douche, with his attitude.

I like letting people get parts off my pile to, but if your going to be a **** about it, go somewhere else...to quote the old In Living Color show..."Homey don't play that.". You come an ask, show a bit of respect an you can have what you want, try an push me around to get my stuff, your biting off more then you can chew. I've had people try this before, pull in my drive way an try an brow beat me into giving up my pile. Nope, nada, not happening. I've had a couple get an attitude, I just laugh an tell'm to keep on moving. To not move gives them few choice..deal with the law, or deal with me an the way I'll defend my property an home.

Stupid people make the world go around.

Cause you got class, like the majority of folks here. Unlike the two fellas in your original post. Temper tamptrums are uncool at any age, those guys proved it.
