And I'm not even an E-Scrapper

Responded to this ad on facebook from a local Radio Shack and ended up with a trailer load of e-scrap.....and I'm not even an e-scrapper. Will get them Monday.

If I ran into that stash, I think I would sit on them and read up on ewaste. After poking around on here on the forum, I'm feeling sick about how many computers, electronics, etc. I have pitched into the shred. I never knew they had any value other than the metal case. At least pull the insides out and throw them in I bucket! Just my .02.

Actually, I was fishing for advice and thank you for yours. Heck of it is; the scrapyard is 5 blocks away and if I bring em home, it's 50 miles.
What to do.....what to DO ????

Agreed, I know nothing about e-scrap, but I would be kicking myself if I took all that for shred. Some might be good resell or for parts. If you have the room I would take them home and do some research. I would think you have more that .10 per lb stuff there that is for sure. Heck you might be able to sell the whole lot on CL to someone that e-scraps.....might be quick money that way!

Take your electric screwdriver, and a bunch of bits. Load your towers in the trailer, find a public park somewhere, and dismantle. Throw boards, inside your pickup, scrap cases. Oh wait, you are in Nebraska. Low pressure system gonna park over you and SD all week. Do you like scrapping in the rain?

Congrats on the load...I hope they are still there on Monday.

If you just throw all that in the shred pile you will be giving away more money than you make

Hauling everything to the shred pile does not make you an escrapper, just a scrapper, There is quite a bit of value there if you just take a little time.

You will make 4x more money tearing them apart and shipping to a buyer here. Take some time and read up on ewaste in the threads. You have been here long enough to know that computers pay better than shred if you take them
    apart.

Seems like the wise thing to do to take everyone's advice (thanks) and bring the stuff home and maybe learn something here. Just maybe an old dog CAN learn new tricks.

Rain would be nice on my alfalfa, cornground and the pastures and lessen the fire danger (my neighbor burned his hut and garage down...pic enclosed), but it sure DOES slow up the scrappin. Oh well, I have to go singin with my piano and the band this weekend anyhow so Win some and Lose some.

Here's what happened when the neighbor burned trash too close to his buildings last weekend. Let it rain..!!
By the way, he wants me to scrap/salvage this mess. Okay I will.

I would take the copiers and the printers to the scrap yard first, also if the yard will the monitors then take them to the yard too. Then go back and get the computers and what ever else they have and take that stuff home. At leaste it will bay for your gas and you'll still make money. Just my .20

I think I'm on the same page as you.....I have enough to do without trying to take apart a monitor and printer. The computers look like the best deal out of the load.

The printers and monitors are being added to farm scrap and vehicle loads and I'm hanging on to the computers. I see that there are parts missing as the Radio Shack has a ''geek'' who works on them and must be saving stuff back himself. I see very few RAM and some are obviously missing other parts.

As for the cajun dinner, do you deliver ? We're playing a Casino this weekend so I'd let you sing with the band

Wow...I'm late in seeing/answering this. Sorry. I do Facebook constantly anyhow and an acquaintance who works at Radio Shack just randomly asked if anyone wanted some computers. I was the first to answer. It was just a stroke of luck. Now it's October and they called again with even more of the same so I'm taking this alot more serious and the nice man at the "Shack" even showed me all he had done in taking them apart (not that the same info isn't on Scrap Metal Forum)...ha. Three men helped load my trailer and said there are 40 more computers up at the school and could I come back ?

    So..........I'm reading the archives again.
