I'd say copper clad , no plastic coating but it is stranded as a bunch each having the steel
core . I took a nippers and nipped off the copper from the steel center and it did not stick to the
magnet . Since I know the source, it is electric company ,
it's use is electric . It's heavy for size .
I don't agree with my scrap yard, which is like asking the fox to watch the Hen house . But they told me they will buy it a #2
steel not even copper bearing and that I don't agree with because I am able to nip off a small chunk if I angle nippers , it's not just a copper coating , with out steel core i'd say 14 to 16 gauge BUT being fused with steel is what it is .
I have never melted copper, but this would be a nice concept as here I have like 200 plus pounds of this stuff that if melted would make some nice Bars and be recapturing some thing I am ready to scrap as steel .
I have seen tracer wire that looks similar yet when you nip off copper color that sticks to a magnet
