I need a good place to start

Hey guys my name is Rukan, a 19 yr old college student that lives in New Port Richey, FL, and me and my Dad are looking to get into the scrapping business. We've heard a lot of good things about scrapping from a handful of people and we're really interested in giving it a shot. My dad says that eventually if things go good he's willing to buy a truck even, i need some good ideas on where we can pick up metal, what types of metals i should be looking out for and just the basics really. Any general (maybe even obvious?) information would be really appreciated, thanks!

try your own back yard, attic, garage etc. I started over, 3 years ago with 0$, no vehicle, no help. Got $600 and started from there.

Tenacity, common sense, and a little inventiveness. You have a big advantage all ready that I didn't have, this forum and it's members.

What you should be looking for is anything metal that you can fit into your car, or take with you somehow. After collecting stuff, you learn from doing. Take apart everything you get and figure out what works for you.

Hello from Denver...I think you will retain more info if you start reading old threads of topics that interest you. Most things you need to know are here and you will get out what you put into it.

The first thing you need to do is read the old post to get an idea of what to do. In the mean time you need to make a few more post so I can send you a private mesage, I thing you need 5 or 6 post. I don't live far from you (between Hudson and Spring hill) and i'll meet up with you and help you out. Do you have a place to take things apart? You might think about getting a trailor first, this will help get bigger loads to maxamize your payouts at the scrap yard. By the way welcome to the forum from Spring Hill.
