    just dragged a direct tv satellite

    just one over probably a half mile in a corn field

    I assume you assume you are talking about the satellite dish and not the actual satellite

    Check the coaxes on the dish, the connectors are brass and (the coaxes are clad) there is a small solid core copper wire molded to one of the coaxes to supply power to the amp. I'm guessing it's about 16 ga, If you get ahold of the end the copper will zip right off.
