    Surprised Myself with the Weight

Took over 2 hours loading this thing with a skidsteer and a little hand work. I was surprised with the weight as it's mostly light scrap plus a tractor rear wheel (round item top center). The hog feeder on the back is full of tin cans. Net weight was 4.48 ton.

That's one fugly load! There must be some stuff in there that is more than shred, to make 4-1/2 tons.

Thanks for the photo--keep them comin'!

    Jon.

This load came from the same place. I loaded it wrong but hauled it this way. About 3.5 ton. Only one cab had an engine ( the top one ) which should have been on the bottom with the grinder on top. Sheets of tin are on the very bottom / held down by the rest of the load. The International cab/motor would have fit down over the grinder if I could have located it differently but there wasn't enough length and I was committed by that time.

I presume you leave your skidsteer at the farm until the job is done and pick it up on the last load? Have you had any problems with the customer not letting you back onto his property to pick up the machine?

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that was 4.5 tons. I am usually close. Congrats! Sometimes I feel like a carney man guessing the weight on scrap metal.

The uglier the load, the better the advertising. Congrats and keep up the good work. You must have the county picked clean by now.

Yes, I do just that and even have to move around to different farms (same owner) to make my load come out just right. Makes it easier to do that now with two trailers / pickups. Very useful when I can't get a full load at one location and need my skidsteer down the road a mile or so but don't have room to haul it with a part load. Take the wife along on those days.

I've never had a problem with getting back onto the property to get my equipment. I guess I never even thought that could be a concern. I commonly load without the owner being there......sometimes from his farm shop. Some customers will offer to house my equipment and even give me a key to a locked building. Alot of mutual trust out here in the sticks.

That was my 20 ft trailer and I was able to pile it pretty high. I forgot to lay a couple cattle gates across the top but the chains/binders held it down. I misjudge weights too......thus the title of this thread. LOL !!

    Ugly loads DO create attention..!

I hope I don't run out of iron but I find myself further from home each month. I suppose someday there will be 16 and 24 row farm equipment for removal. Once an abandoned farmstead is picked clean, there won't be any going back there for more iron. I'll be removing a stainless steel pipeline milking system from a barn this week. Interesting place.

In my neck of the woods, it's not called hand work, it's called a "hand job"
