Just an update on scrapping and life in general…
So I split up with my girlfriend a few weeks ago (get the awwwws and I’m sorry’s out of the way now!) and moved into a new place. As far as the breakup, it was pretty mutual and best for both parties. I’m honestly a lot happier now and I have my own apartment for the first time in my life.
So I snagged a place that has a driveway, a storage shed (shared but the upstairs neighbor doesn’t use it), a little covered area next to my bedroom and back door and two bedrooms, one of which will be my office/storage room. It might not be the best place in the world but it’s MINE MINE MINE!!!
Also got a new job that starts next week that I am SUPER excited for. Nice little bump in pay…weeeeeeeeee!!!
I got the working truck in the “divorce” which was super necessary for obvious reasons. Gotta cap it soon with the snow on the way and wire it up so I can use the trailer. I’m going to lie low as far as big scrap items go but if someone nearby has something they want picked up and I can use the trailer, yeah I’ll snag it. I’m not going out of my way to look for stuff, though.
“But Matty, didn’t you have two trucks?” Why, yes I did…and this is kinda what factored into the breakup a bit. The Chevy crapped out about a month ago and I wanted to bring it home, strip it down and get the most money out of it. The GF said “we need the money right now so call [local yard] and have them pick it up. I knew we were losing SO much money that way and I tried to convince her of that but she wasn’t having it. Too much unilateral decision-making in this relationship. It was the final straw and we both knew it. Time to go our separate ways…
So I had to move all of my scrap pile from the old place to the new. Holy crap, I have WAY too many printers! Gotta figure what to do with them after I break them all down and snag the cartridges.
Got a lot of computers to break down (and I’m always looking for more) and wire to strip. It’ll be a busy indoor scrapping winter I think which is a good problem to have!
Had a nice job the other day which was actually a call-back from a previous one. It was a nice haul and I was able to take it right to the yard, get weighed and get paid. I’m waiting to hear back about one more job before I pull the trigger on capping the truck for the winter. I suppose I could always just take it off if it comes through but…meh we’ll see.
And so begins a new chapter in the Wild and Whacky Scrapping Adventures of MattyNoNeck. Thanks for coming along for the ride and I hope you keep on truckin’ with me.
