    Abandoned and Neglected .. Computers

Hope this isn't categorized wrong.. Got the idea for the title from a FB page called Abandoned and Neglected Cars..
SO! Post the dusty and rusty (sounds wrong) computers and electronics you find..

I started a project about 2 years ago, threw some numbers out there and won the bid. This company has been storing their older computers outside for the past 25+ years.
Some of the computers are set off to the side on the ground, palletized but from decades of weathering they pretty much have been swallowed by the earth.
After cleaning up one area, we went back with a bobcat to push some trash into a pile and found more computers buried. So now we are running the bobcat and removing about a foot down and still finding computers..
Nasty stuff but its the oldies but goodies.. .. Surprisingly the shells have taken most of the damage, saving everything inside .... 90% of the time...

I thought about posting this a little to late so here are a few pictures, on the next pick up I will post some better pics..

On a side note, even old computers that have been in the ground like this..all the gold will still be on the board..some buyers may try to cry about the rust but gold does not rust and they only do it to try to bring down the value.

I did a flood clean out where whole offices where flooded with sea water and it just killed the computer units....gold was still the same recovered value when they where tested.

I've had some pretty rough ones but I didn't take time to do pictures...........Was actually just glad to get rid of them quickly..............The worst is the computers that were infested by roaches...........Seems everytime I buy from scrap yards I always get a couple of these..........Thank the Lord the roaches are usually gone and just leave their remnants ..........Have yet to get a gov't surplus computer that has this problem just when I go shopping at the yards

Gold doesnt "rust"....hence why they use it...1st buyer that *****ed about that haslost alot of credibility with me since they apparently know very little when I comes to precious metals. Wet, dry, flooded whatever...gold recovers the same...and really most of the other precious metals too.

In decent condition those IBM 5150's are worth more then gold scrap. Too bad the insides look rusted also some parts might have been salvageable.

all this talk about rust I figured I would post an update. unfortunately around 50% of the CPUs being pulled from the computers(from the top pictures) are looking rough. The gold may not be rusting but the base metal is....
