question for others who recover refrigerant

FreonJoe or any other refrigerant guys,

Have any of you had problems with valves on recovery tanks not closing properly. I have 2 tanks started now and my tank of 134A, I can't seem to get the valve to seal. Luckily, I have a hose on it that has a shut off valve on it. I have attached the other end to the other inlet valve on the tank just in case someone accidentally touches the shut off. I have had this problem once or twice before and wound up circulating the refrigerant thru the recovery machine and back into the tank. This worked before.

    Thanks.

    Mark

Mark, I replace a lot of valves on my recovery tanks. I usually keep a few new ones hanging on the wall.

These are exchange tanks from AirGas. I'd hate to be spending my money putting a new valve on a tank that I'm going to exchange.

Does the company have replacement ones being it's their tank.

    Mech,

They do. I get new ones every time I bring one back with refrigerant. Suppose I could go back and ask for a different one. Only problem is I have refrigerant in ot already and can't get the valve to seat properly. Still have one of my hoses (that has a shut off) attached to it.

Tell AirGas the situation. They should give you a tank to take home and transfer the refrigerant before you take the tank back.
