Exclamation Stumbled into a deal and a half!!

so I walk into our IT guys office at work just now. We have been having ongoing conversations about electronic scrap and gold values and such (he has the fever... newbie ha). Anyways, I don't think he fully understood that I make money off of all kinds of e-scrap. He had two laptops sitting in the trash can and I said to him what the heck are you doing??? He said I have to put a couple in trash every day to get rid of them.. I about passed out! I said anything like that I will take and scrap out. He said oh do you want these? I have like 15 of them right now... how about this stack of hard drives... how about all this RAM. There is a stack of a hundred pounds worth of finger boards, UPS batteries, RAM, laptops, towers and hard drives that I will be loading up tonight! I have found a great new (free!!) source. Then he proceeds to tell me how much of that he has thrown away over the years. Again I almost faint... oh well, now we both know. I'll post a pic of my haul when I unload it.

Don't you just love it when people throw stuff away. Especially at work. I spent my lunch hour today digging about 100 digital phones out of the dumpster where I work. The best part was 150 pounds of high grade telecom boards I found under the phones.
Stay in touch with your IT guy. They are a great source for scrap.

Agreed. $$ will keep your name on the tip of his tongue if he hears of other people needing e-scrap disposed of for free!

Finally got around to listing two barely used Motorola hand scanners for my IT guy. Deal was any amount above $750 was mine. Well they sold in less than 24 hours for $1,140. So after double dose of fees (ebay and paypal) I managed to make a quick $250. Not a bad payday for about 20 minutes worth of work... Think I owe him a 12 pack for sure on this one!

as the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished, or, if its too good to be true it is... just talked to IT guy and the head financial guys is very upset over this deal. he said I charged way too much (20% commission.. really... seamed fair) and better yet he said I should have just done it for free! At least I covered myself by disclosing all financials about the deal. I was not about to sneak around just to make an extra $100... I didn't want to compromise my copper deal and use of shipping area over so little. So now the IT guy and him are going to discuss it and come up with a new amount that I can keep. Gee thanks... Remember to look both ways, cuz there's a lot of busses with your name on them!
