$14 in coins in the last dryer

i don't take things apart piece by piece unless there is really a bunch of copper inside... usually just scrap washers & dryers whole... but i always crack open the dryers and feel around the bottom for coins... and found just over $14 in the last dryer i picked up the other day! so alwys remember to do that...

same day found a washer, kitchen sink, and exercise bike, all in a seperate locations!

    was a good one.

There IS a lot of copper in washers and dryers. The wiring and motors give quite a bit.

Picking up my first dryer tomorrow. An old gas dryer. Happens to be my first decent call from craiglist ads too! This will be a cherry-popping good time! lol

Cool! And yes, I would be tearing them apart as well. That has to be a pretty heavy duty motor in a dryer. I have not seperated a washer or dryer yet, but I have torn into enough of them to fix. If you see one with a stainless drum, go nuts on it. The rest of it would be high quality stuff as well.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I gotta pick it up tomorrow, but may not get to breaking it down until wed, with Valentine's Day and work. We'll see. I'll start a new thread when I do, let everyone know how it goes.

I once found $41.24 cash inside a cash register someone had thrown out (looked like one from a gas station, and no i didn't rob the place lol) and just yesterday I tore down a vending machine, had close to 6 bucks in change in the bottom. I love finding money inside stuff lol.

    Nice find!

At the risk of getting off track, it reminds me of a few years back when I thought I wanted to be in the mobile food concession business. Found a trailer in Colorado and drug it home to Idaho. It came with a register, but I didn't use it right away. When I finally unboxed it, it had around $520 dollars in it. Though I bought the trailer and contents as is, where is, I let the former owner know about it. He didn't care so I kept it.

Another time I bought a "Lil Wizard" gumball machine off ebay. Seller stated there was money in it, but she didn't know how to get it out.

It arrived and instead of a regular lock, it had a lock that opened with a flat screwdriver. Opened it up and it had around $42 in it.

Still haven't hit "paydirt" on any appliances. So far just one had money and it was 57 cents.

I have found if you take the dryer apart you can also get the coins that get hung up in the brackets. I will remove the drum by removing the top of the dryer. This allows me easy access to the bottom of the dryer, which also allows me to easily remove the motor, which sells for more than steel scrap price.
