    I do this occasionally, and yeah, $5 a unit is a good UPPER limit. Make sure if you're bidding on multiple lots that you're figuring in drive time as if each individual lot was the only lot you'll end up winning. Learned that one the hard way and ended up driving 100 miles round trip for just a few switches.
