I would like to share this lets say business plan with you, I am a believer in that every scraper/ recycler should have a niche or specialize in one aspect or another of this business it just sets you apart from the rest. Now this is not for the part time weekend guy or gal that does scraping for extra money, This is for let's say a operation that has at least a 12-18 foot trailer and a couple of guys that work full time in the recycling business. You will also have to have a warehouse or covered work area. Now that we have eliminated 50 percent of the competition here we go.
It's specializing in serving HVAC CONTRACTORS. Now if you do not have a certification for recovering
freon you would have to get that and today it's pretty simple and a few bucks to take the test and get certified on line. You will also have to purchase a recovery machine for the freon. And then you will have a foundation to build up your company's specialties around. You now have a area of expertise. The only way to build a company into something is to have a steady flow of material.Serving
A/C Contractors will get you a steady flow of Tin, Copper, Sealed Units, Electric Motors,
Wire, Copper Aluminum Coils, Aluminum Coils, and also Recovered freon, plus some boards and a few other items.
We have built up a good customer base and so could you, if you are a company that contractors can depend on to be where they need you when they need you to be. We do steady pick ups daily from A/C contractors job sites as well as there business location/s. This time of the year they are very busy and even if they scrap themselves they do not have the time right now to scrap so the opportunity is there now to build a year round service.
We in the
scrap metal business are actually in the service business, you provide a removal service for all our customers and do what they can not or do not want to do. So on most days we are on job sites before the crane gets there on commercial roof top units the holes are in place so that when the old unit is removed the new unit will be placed in the same spot, so when they loosen up and unhook the unit the crane picks it up and puts it down on our trailers then the scrap unit is taken away and the new unit gets put up, the reason I am telling you this story is if we were not on time the hole job would be a complete mess, so when the contractor knows you will be there on time saving him time and aggravation and putting a few bucks in his pocket at the same time it's a win win for all.
We also as a courtesy remove any trash, wood from the new units packing.
For the smaller home units the contractors crew bring them back to the company's location and we pick them up on a daily or needed basis. We pay by the unit ton of the unit not its actual weight if you like PM me for details. I would also like to mention we resell used parts for a c units when we can. I think that all area's of the country this would work.
Here are some pic's of jobs that I remembered to take pic's of.
