    can I scrap? link chain

Hi, I don't scrap too often and I've searched online. But I can't find out if I am able to sell chain, like the chain used to lift objects or lock a gate. I have approx 200lbs of the stuff and it would be nice to scrap it. Thanks in advance!
Also I can provide à picture if needed.

If it's nice link chain then take a pic or two of it then post on Craigslist for better than scrap price.

Thanks for the reply. Approx half is in perfect condition any idea what its made of or price per pound I can expect ballpark. I have to drive about 30 mins and if I'm only gonna make 5$ not worth the trip ya know.
And I really appreciate the help!

If its not terribly rusted it is definitely worth more than scrap value. What size is it? Around here you could expect around $15-$18 for a 20' 3/8" chain. But not knowing what size the chain is, know one can give you a accurate estimate.

I hope you don't mind me asking... How did you obtain the chain?

I will take a picture tommorow with a measurement. I work at best buy and my supervisor found it in a corner and was going to throw it in the garbage. So I thought I could sell it

He obtained it from work, he said. I would try to get a better price for it then scrap value. If you have to drive 30 minutes to the scrap yard for that amount and after gas you're only making $5, you're better off trying to offload it elsewhere.

Wow, I'd cut it into at least 20 foot lengths and sell it. Someone could buy it and add their own hooks of choice. Is it 3/8's thickness do you know? Or bigger? I have 2 in my truck at all times and dad and I have a bunch at his place for the tractors during yard jobs or pulling other vehicles.

Yes you can scrap it. If it is 200-300lbs you may want to save it until you get more weight. With only the fence it would be a waste of time you ma get more$20.00.
    Good luck
