cashing in with recyclables inside plastic bags!!??

Cant remember what video, but noticed in one (awhile back) of Scraperella's from youtube, that she had some metals in plastic grocery bags.
Got me thinking (I know, could be trouble), I already take AL cans in plastic yard bags….why not other items?
Would it make the yard less likely to deduct on weight if it obviously was in light weight plastic? Even copper could go in the clear plastic bags.

Just a thought that Scraperella (unknowingly) got me started with, what do you all think?

Hope everyone's weekend is profitable and safe! Looking for someone to post some scores & pics posted over the weekend!~

Update: just found where some of you have done this with varying degrees a cple of yrs ago. Not sure why search function wasnt working ealier!??? But it is now.

Any recent results taking metals in packed in the plastic bags?

I took about 30 lbs of bare bright copper wiring in 3 grocery bags today.

when I went to get one of the bags out of the bag, it ripped, so I quickly put another bag around it.

they did not take any weight off

alot of time if i am stripping boards or anything that has light weight small pieces , i will throw them into a krogers bag...i have never had a problem throwing a grocery bag full of metal into the shred pile....now they will not accept any plastic at all in your pop cans in my area, they have several signs saying so......ive never tried putting copper in bags,i do use feed sacks alot for copper or brass...they just dump em out then hand em back to me......i mean a plastic bag wouldnt register on most junk yards scales

Not me. I use totes, an such.

Ask me why ask me why!?!

Thank you for asking, I'll tell you...

We can't have plastic bags on the sandbar. Well you can have them, but none of the stores use them. Some silly rule they passed a couple years back. It's a sore subject for a lot of people. Even Walmart has to use paper bags. Only one place I know of down here that still uses plastic bags, an that's a gas station that tells the county to eff'off whenever they give them crap about it. lol.

So..yea..no plastic bags for me on a trip to the yard.

My sandbar is full of tree huggers, an no trees!

I use the tall plastic/nylon cat food sacks (16 -23 pounders) and their almost tearproof and 2 of my yards do not deduct for them as they have tried to weigh them and they will not show on their scale. Example - 30+ pounds of insulated wire, 25-30 pounds of low grade boards. Small transformers and motors. No tear thru's like the grocery bags.

The plastic shopping bags weigh just 5grams...

I used to use them, one inside the other and take the free bus to the scrappers...

They easyly contain $50 of Copper. Other wise I use 'feedbags'. 'Called '50kg Coalsacks' here in NZ.

I have used plastic bags on occasion but noticed some aggravation by the scale man when trying to dump and stuff was getting snagged...so everything is in bucket, tote or freestyle.
